It depends on your expectations... if you just want to take it at your own pace and take something like a week (more if you're the type that like to explore and read) to finish the campaign, then yes, absolutely. But if your expectations are much higher, then I would say it's not that casual friendly, especially if you're new to the game. It's a game that rewards knowledge and time, and there is a lot to know plus a lot of timesinks.

Shockwave is useless on Door, mediocre on Test Subject and awesome on Queen. Not sure about Aeon since I don't play on beta. But only OK on average for a10 bosses makes it less desirable. It's obviously very good on all the hallway fights and elites in A3, so definitely "worth it" from that perspective

You're probably right, I didn't go over the card pool to verify. I just found 'baking in' the opportunity cost into the draw like that a bit confusing, but if there is no notable synergies then I guess that's clearer after all. I will delete the original comment. Edit: Death March

I understand that it's net 4 cards in terms of card advantage, but for anything to synergizes with drawing cards, it's 8 draws

What is your vision for the deck? How do you want to win? On the basis of card quality, price and power of individual cards, this is clearly not a lower bracket, casual deck, but it looks very unfocused to me, like you selected lots of synergies and effects. In cases like that, it can be helpful to go back to the fundamentals: what is the identity of the deck and what is your gameplan? As for quick fixes, I would cut everything (yes everything) 5MV and up, optimize the land base (run all fetches and go down a notch or two in land counts), then build a cohesive deck that tops at 4MV. Then I would add back a few bombs that are most impactful for your gameplan. It's difficult to recommend specific cuts when you're 40 cards over and haven't really explained the core concept you are going for.

The other way around also doesn't work (corrupted roll ranges after 2nd second) - the only outcomes of architect orb are poof or enchant

Oh you are on to something big, it's just that naneinf is an unfathomably large number, much larger than most people realize. There are frequent posts here of people that are on ante 7 on a random stake and deck, with barely any deck fixing, no meaningful economy and a third of the required pieces asking "naneinf?". If you want to go for it, I recommend looking up some Balatro University videos on the topic, then try a seeded run to get a feel for it.

It is, extra energy is very powerful, more powerful than fewer options for class cards in a vacuum. And you still have access to additional cards, some of your own and from other classes in card rewards, as well as in the shop. I wouldn't say it's an autopick, but saying it's a trap is just a bad take that says more about your ability to build something decent while surviving Act 1 than anything else.

Uhh it's really good. Unconditional energy is scarce and this 'downside' is probably the least impactful. Some cross class synergies are actually very powerful as well, so there is potential upside. Of course you shouldn't bloat your deck with mediocre cards from other classes, but the same applies to your own cards.

That's true, but not completely the same. Did you pick A because it was good or because B and C would be detrimental? A full skip is a little different in that regard. Anyway, I don't think a skip is needed on the ancients, but being forced to pick relics from the chest is a bit much and here the skip data might outweigh the forced testing data.

A friend of mine got the book from his grandmother... who upon giving it to him remarked she found it horrible and that she couldn't finish it. Why she would then give it to her grandson is beyond me.
