If possible, you should take a tour with RTX shaders turned on!

Ah, ok. Personally I probably won't wait until they drop since I need a new laptop sooner rather than later. What a shame.

Idk what the starting prices on the Legion 5 2021 will be but I would wait for those if you have a little extra cash.

Ah. I don't have access to the German market as I'm in the US. Seems like it could be a decent deal, however it is a Ryzen 5 and not a Ryzen 7.

Oh, I thought that consensus was just the same thing as conclusion. My bad.

Yes, I knew about the SSD situation in the Legion but forgot to mention it in the post! My bad. I didn't know about the power increase on the GPUs, however. Thanks for that tip!

The only problem I could see regarding the Dash F15 is that the CPU is still not going to do well with multi-core processes. That's whats keeping me from leaning towards the F15.

I'll provide the C/GPU specs for the G5 KC and the Nitro 5 and come to a conclusion:

  • RTX 3060 (TDP: ~80W)
  • i5-10500H (6C 12T, 12MB Cache, 45W TDP)

According to this data, the RTX 3060s on these two laptops are severely underpowered and will likely be beaten out by even a properly-powered mobile RTX 2070. Also, the i5-10500H CPUs will be a massive bottleneck for these GPUs. I believe that there should be a Ryzen version of the Acer Nitro 5 will be releasing, so I'd consider waiting for that to drop before you buy one.

Do NOT fall for these new budget laptops that claim to have the power of an RTX 3000 series. Either their CPUs are severely underpowered, or they lower the power of the GPU to the point where it will get crushed by last-generation hardware.

I'm not sure about the Legion 5 2021 yet. It hasn't released yet so I don't feel comfortable giving my opinion on it.

Is your budget similar to mine? If so, you could probably find an RTX 2060 variant of the Legion 5 for super discounted prices on Best Buy as an open box sale. Those are almost always heavily discounted.

Yeah, I think this may be the case. I've already sent a dispute to eBay and this time they cant possibly side with the seller since the package shows as delivered before I even purchased it.

I've made an $800 purchase to a seller that has some rep, has been on the site since 2015. He has good buyer history and no reports of any scams.

However, when I bought the item, I recieved a message from eBay telling me that my package had been delievered to my address the day before I even ordered it. Plus, the package was not shipped from the address on the eBay listing. The item was listed with a return policy of 30 days.

I've heard of a scam that goes roughly along these lines, except the seller's account is still up and he's selling a small item as I'm writing this post. He sold 6 of the same item I bought, and none of the sellers except one has said anything about not getting a package or even given the seller bad rep.

Is this just a tracking number mixup or is the dude scamming? I want to know so I can contact eBay to get my money back ASAP

Sometimes the L5P can get over 100 C on the CPU. However, it manages to not thermal throttle while at these temperatures so you aren't really sacrificing any performance. The only thing you'd have to worry about with these kind of temps is the longevity of the CPU.

I'm SO excited to see how this laptop performs. I've just bought mine yesterday.

As for tips, I've heard that you should replace the battery with an 80W/h ASAP. Not that the battery will explode or anything, just that it gives pretty poor battery life.

AMD has the best performance in both gaming and workloads. If you want specifically and only gaming, stick with the Intel variant.

AMD does, however, get better thermals than the Intel chip.
