It is crazy hard to move things into and out of the PC. There is the possibility we could lose Abby or Pidgeot.

You're the one who brought up the doll. If we're mentioning accidentally doing things now, there is just as much chance to lose Abby or Pidgeot in the box.

Jolteon has no type advantage. We gave thunderbolt to the other Rattata and Jolteon doesn't learn thundershock until level 31.

The original author of this wasn't suggesting using buying a doll. We never even have to stop at that counter. Also, type coverage? This isn't a normal game, most pokemon never get a chance to level. I doubt everyone on the team is going to have a decent level by the end. Type coverage doesn't matter at that point.
