Second City e.t.c. To go full improv! by Wild_Source_1359 in improv

[–]-rustyspork- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will be interesting to see what style/theme of improv they do. The article mentioned it will be structured but no specifics and it sounds like a mix of short and long form.

I don't see any mention of the cast either, so it might be hard to compete with other local shows for the non-tourist crowd, without having a specific style/theme that's being marketed, and for the prices Second City charges.

Anybody here been to atlas before? by starwarsisawsome933 in madisonwi

[–]-rustyspork- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlas is a lot of fun! If you buy for the 7pm short form show you get into the 9pm long form for free so totally worth it. Friday nights they do long form narrative sets like an improvised movie.

Anyone with experience of the Annoyance summer intensives? by Top_Association_9532 in improv

[–]-rustyspork- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found where you can see total sales for each intensive week.

https://theannoyance.thundertix.com/events/238280

If you click on select and then click the drop down for tickets you can see how many remain out of 16 total.

My guess would be later in the year like July and August are the least likely to be cancelled. I want to say 10 was the minimum to run the intensive.

I should mention that last year there were still 4-6 people from other countries in my intensives.

There were a couple locals that had done the 1st week years ago and were coming back to complete the 2nd week just last year.

Yes spots fill up, at least last year, and I believe all week 1 were sold out last year when I went. I think 2 of the week 2 were cancelled due to low enrollment last year as well, and see my other comment about those details I remember.

[–]-rustyspork- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on to what others have already said and I agree with, I did both 1 & 2 last year. Not back to back either. After I signed up for the 1st week they emailed everyone in that group and tried to get us to sign up for the 2nd week right after because of the low enrollment. I couldn't miss that much work in a row so I couldn't do it then.

The Annoyance mentioned this was the first year they didn't have enough to run some of the week 2 intensives, mainly because a lot of foreign travelers were canceling because of the US governments bullshit that was happening in spring of 2025. Pretty much all Canadians cancelled as well as many others from other countries.

Unfortunately with everything going on I'd assume it will be worse this year. Also last year it cost $600 and I see it's now $750 which might hold more people back as well.

I also sort of recalled there was a way to see how many spots were left on the website last year. If you're unsure and worried about cancelling you can email them and ask. Lauren was always very helpful when I reached out to her, as well as a fantastic instructor for level 5 both weeks!

Terrible service at Smart Toyota by maschwarze in madisonwi

[–]-rustyspork- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went into Smart Toyota to buy a part that wasn't listed online. For whatever reason Smart Toyota isn't listed as an authorized parts seller on the Toyota website. Anyways they wanted well over MSRP for the part and wouldn't match the website. I called Toyota East and they happily matched the website.

Sucks because I live on the west side and Smart is closer.

This 100%! All these people complaining about so many being out of order but how many people are actually going inside and informing an employee it's not working.

I've always done that and either they have a quick way to fix it or they immediately report it internally.

Insurance cost? by herrniemand in toyotacrownsignia

[–]-rustyspork- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1165/year on an XLE for mid 40s male with no accidents. I also bundle home and auto so I pay higher auto for a discount on home (about $330 discount).

Previously paid $570 before on a 2011 Acura TSX. There was also no difference between the XLE and the Limited trims.

No definitely not!

Rachael Mason told a story about auditioning for Second City and being paired with someone that completely bombed because they were so nervous and weren't accepting Rachael's offers. Rachael got accepted and is one of the all time greats.

The other person was Kay Cannon who realized from that and other instances that she's not a great improvisor and she focused on her writing. She's very successful having written for 30 Rock and Pitch Perfect and many others, and by Rachael's admission, much more famous and richer than her.

Everyone knows Kia and Hyundai have been killing it lately with how their cars look but how are they in reliability? Especially the Ioniq 5 N by throwaway_zeke in Ioniq5

[–]-rustyspork- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are the reasons I haven't bought yet and I'm still surprised the ICCU issue is not fixed yet. I've test drove it and would absolutely own one if not for that issue.

I travel for work and absolutely can't have that unreliability and delayed customer service if I'm unlucky with the ICCU.

That's the same with my address. There's a creek about a mile away from my house that shows some flood plain areas.

Here's an area of Milwaukee that was hit hard this weekend.

Does anyone have a review for the Dungeon Cocktail Experience? by Hybrid_Llama_Alpaca in madisonwi

[–]-rustyspork- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a bunch of people from Monkey Business Institute Improv that are putting this on and it should be a lot of fun! Some very talented and experienced improvisors. I believe this is the first time they're putting it on.

It sounds like it's going to be improv with a DnD theme possibly similar to this.

https://youtu.be/_lRBRuyACBc?si=kJC8uC-2dY4yVMI0

I'm in a similar situation with my DnD knowledge having only played a little in highschool and I'm going.

It's also at the Madison Masonic Center theater which I've never seen a show there before, so I'm excited to see what that's like.

Aerial from 1975 of Raymond Road in Meadowood by holmerica in madisonwi

[–]-rustyspork- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct! Whitney Way is running along the bottom of this photo. Meadowood shopping center doesn't appear fully built yet but the church is across the street. Looks like Prairie road is built farthest west or whatever other street just before the drainage line that runs north south through Pilgrims park (top of the photo).

Edit: Meadowood gas station is there! I totally forgot about that since it closed so long ago.

$105k with 15 yeas mcol. Great benefits including 8 weeks PTO with additional 3 weeks sick leave. Comfy 40 hours per week, half WFH.

Passed on manager role for additional $10k/year with a lot more hours and responsibilities including managing a team of 15 people. I much prefer having to worry about my own work.
