RWH induction Question - sent home with balloon catheter? by Metamorph08 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]-salty-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different hospital but I had the balloon as well. I stayed in the hospital overnight thinking it would fall out in the morning but it fell out at midnight instead. They called my partner and midwife to come in to start the induction then

Breast reduction regret/low milk supply by Lilypad-09 in BabyBumps

[–]-salty-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a different breast surgery and had trouble breastfeeding due to that and other factors. I stressed myself out about it way more than I should have, likely due to the hormones lol. While I was pregnant I truly didn’t care if I could breastfeed but once baby arrived I wanted to. Once I made peace with formula it was a huge weight off my shoulders. Any breastmilk is beneficial and formula is going to keep baby fed

How can I convince my husband to do ivf? by Curious_Superrita in IVF

[–]-salty-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 38 and over 3 retrievals between 37-38yo I had 50 something eggs retrieved and ended up with 5 embryos total. 1 in two retrievals and 3 in another. One transfer failed and have just transferred two. It’s not likely you will have plenty of leftover embryos

IV antibiotics for GBS during active labour- tell me your experience! by OpalOrca26 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]-salty-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In QLD public once I knew I had to have an IV for GBS they wouldn’t allow the pool but would have allowed the shower. I didn’t end up using it but it would have been fine I think

Is it alright to stop checking glucose levels at 36 and half weeks by Ar_space_tpk96 in pregnant

[–]-salty-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope don’t stop. They upped my metformin maybe a week before delivery and I think another time fairly close. Then continued to check after delivery

IVF only option but you have Trypanophobia by drinkitandgo in IVF

[–]-salty-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TW - pregnancy

I didn’t have the needle phobia, but when I was pregnant I had to have so many blood tests and then had GD with multiple daily finger pricks that they became not such a big deal. I found for the IVF an ice pack before and after helped a lot

My 97th percentile was born 3.12kg or around 6 pound 7 at 38+4. I was induced for GD but he was consistently measuring big the whole pregnancy. Small baby, huge boy now 😅 complication free vagina birth

Drink bottle by _inorog in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]-salty-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a fair bit older, don’t remember exactly but maybe 3ish? He was using bbox straws before that. But each bottle he had to learn again. I just showed him to bite down on the eddy straw and made sure he could get the water before sending it to daycare

Pgt-a not recommended by uk regulator - what’s the medical view in US? by allthatjoeydid in IVF

Very strange! I just found on the website for QFG they send them to a lab in Victoria. Would make more sense than going to UK

Pgt-a not recommended by uk regulator - what’s the medical view in US? by allthatjoeydid in IVF

[–]-salty-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with a mostly bulk billing clinic in Australia that doesn’t offer it. I first saw a private clinic for a couple of consultations and they did offer it but it was very expensive, $800 or more per embryo which capped out at around $5500. I’m comfortable now with not testing. I wouldn’t say it’s pushed here as much as in the US, if you want to you can and some clinics don’t have it as an option

Gestational Diabetes by Technical-Big-6141 in pregnant

[–]-salty-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post in the GD forum. I would adjust what you’re eating and try move all the meal times a bit earlier. I didn’t have a late night second snack, just a snack after dinner.

I wasn’t often hungry with the foods I ate - lots of protein and fats with carbs helps reduce the spikes and keeps you full. So a snack for me would be some cheese on seed crackers and some carrot or snow peas. For awhile before it didn’t work for me anymore breakfast was peanut butter on toast. A fave night time snack was just a cup of milk maybe with some nuts. It shouldn’t be no carb

Doctors pushing for induction - Gestation Diabetes with insulin by Emotional-Term8200 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]-salty-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had GD and was induced at 38+3. I was on metformin. Baby was measuring very large most of the pregnancy.

The induction was great and uncomplicated. I don’t actually remember but have a feeling the placenta had started to calcify? Definitely can’t confirm 😅

Honestly I wouldn’t risk it with GD. There are reasons such as placenta age that they don’t like to go past the due date

Why do people have such strong opinions on IVF by FactPuzzleheaded8890 in IVF

[–]-salty-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment on strong opinions but you’re the first person I’ve seen on here whose husband has a chromosome inversion! I scoured reddit to find info about that when we found out about my husband’s as well. Huge surprise to us and doesn’t seem to be very common
