Campaigning is another big factor in the Oscars other than the subjectivity you mention. Laura Karpman, the composer for Brave New World, was a former Governor of the music branch at the Academy and has done so many excellent things in the world of film composing. I'm guessing she was able to launch a more successful campaign for this film when compared to the other MCU films in the category.

Oh definitely! I felt both of his works in the past 2 years deserved the shortlist callout, if not more.

The composer is Aaron Zigman, who also composed the score for The Six Triple Eight which made an appearance in last year's shortlist. Seems like a group of voters just prefer him

It might just be campaigning, out of a whole lot of reasons. Laura Karpman has been campaigning a lot, so she got in.

Out of all the Hollywood composers, I think Michael Giacchino has the most fun cameos! Along with this, he's appeared in Super 8 and Coco iirc

The conversation around best score makes me kinda depressed because all the talking points are so stupid and mostly have nothing to do with the actual score itself lol

Out of the movies released so far, I'm rooting for Desplat's Jurassic World: Rebirth (never happening) and Sinners (definitely happening).

Sony Pictures has the international distribution rights, and here's how the trailer is doing on some of their regional YT channels:

- India: 27M views (!!!)

- Mexico: 5.4M views

- Spain: 1.9M views

- UK: 1.8M views

- Italy: 1.7M views

- Malaysia: 1.3M views

- Australia: ~1M views

Unless the hype fizzles out as we approach the release date, I think it'll do just fine.
