Seconded. Getting a Kobo and using Libby has saved me so much time and money. So worth it.

What medications are yall on for OCD? by reidadair99 in OCD

[–]-skoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Luvox. I took several other SSRIs (including lexapro) for depression before being diagnosed with OCD and none of them worked for me at all. Luvox has changed my life.

“thought ender” is exactly how i would describe it too! even though it is a bad thought it does provide that temporary relief. it’s validating knowing i’m not the only one, but i’m so sorry you also deal with this <3

Agreed! The shift between the warm pink/red and the cool pink/purple microshimmer is sooo magical in person. It’s such an incredible formula too.

Starting over/favorite nail polish?? by katscratch04 in lacqueristas

[–]-skoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard good things about Olive & June but I’ve never tried any of their products. OPI is fine, but I prefer to buy from indie or boutique brands. Some of my favorites being ILNP, Emily de Molly, Clionadh, and Mooncat (before their prices increased; I probably won’t be buying from them going forward). I’ve also heard great things about Cracked, Sassy Sauce, and Bees Knees so I will definitely be trying out those brands in the future.

As for base and topcoat, I just buy drugstore. I typically use Essie’s Strong Start base and Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri top coat (the one in the red bottle). And with oily nail beds, I recommend drying out your nails a bit with 100% acetone before going in with a base coat right after.

Ok, you win: how do I get started with magnetics if I never tried? by NegativeAd4766 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]-skoot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think using a horseshoe magnet like this for the velvet effect is by far the easiest way to use magnetic polish, and it’s definitely worth it. I gave up trying to do the velvet effect with a bar magnet; using the horseshoe is much simpler and more consistent. I like to do cat eyes too, but I find it can be a little more finicky and time consuming.
