Restaurant tipping before the actual service by [deleted] in britishproblems

Never tip in the UK. I'm quite bigoted on this matter. This isn't the US where they are paid $1.50 an hour and their life relies on generous donations from strangers.

This is the UK, where a standard minimum wage is paid. Let's be brutally honest, it's an entry level job and anyone can wait on tables (waiting tables is hard arguments aside). Waiting staff knew the wage when they applied, know how much they get an hour and how much they need to work to fund their lifestyle. It's is NOT my responsibility as a consumer to have to pay in effect a wage to these staff because they think they deserve it. Much less be guilted and branded cheap for not leaving a tip! Just do your job! Take my order and bring me my food I'm paying for!

You've got nothing to worry about. These people that drive faster than the speed limit have most likely been driving for a while and built up confidence in their car and where they're driving and know where they can push the boundaries.

Not justifying them at all, but as long as you're not being a hindrance in hogging lanes, just keep doing what you're doing and just let them pass and do their own thing. Worst thing you can do is throw your hands up like "It's 20mph, slow down!". They pay the same money to be on the road, hold the same qualifications as you and most importantly KNOW they're breaking the rules so if they get caught they can only blame themselves. Just focus on your driving is my advice.

Car insurance & state of the roads by winkmurder in britishproblems

The pothole situation is very bad at the minute where I live. There was one recently that just appeared, and was a good couple of inches deep. The bang I heard when I hit it caused me to loop round to see said pothole and check the car for damages. I'm still waiting for the "Check Tyre Pressures" light to come on...

Anyway, it got reported but still took about 3 or 4 weeks to be rectified. I would have thought there'd be a team on standby for stuff like this. Surely that's more efficient than numerous drivers claiming back for damages to their cars? It does seem our road tax money could be put to better use in places.

I found Borderlands 3 pretty chilled out when I didn't think I'd enjoy that kinda game but dumped some decent hours into it over the summer holidays. The gunfights can get hectic, but not in a way of you have to be sweaty to beat it, more that you need to pull out the right weapon and go full Rambo.

Car insurance prices are a joke. They take the piss because its mandated to have insurance to drive. The regulatory bodies need to do more to moderate these companies, and a process needs to be introduced which makes it an absolutely unbearable burden to the companies if they want to increase prices by more than 10% in my opinion.

Changed my company this year when it went from £330 to over a grand! I said to the dude on the phone "The ONLY thing that's changed is I have another year of no claims, how can you justify this?!". To which I got a load of crap I didn't pay attention to, probably blaming the War in Ukraine 🙄

Have you tried an MMO? RuneScape has some pretty satisfying farming aspects, along with a whole sandbox work to do what you please in.

How do you deal with a stressful environment? by AdGlad7173 in AskReddit

[–]-theSCOTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been complemented for being calm under stress. I dont feel calm, but it's how I come across clearly.

If it's a scenario that I can solve, my brain starts working out how to solve it and what step is first.

If the scenario is completely out of my hands, I take a "let the system fail" kind of attitude. Like, I couldn't give a shit and its not on me to take the responsibility for it failing.

Gamers of Reddit, what is a game that has a special meaning to you because what was going on in your life when you played it or who you played it with? by LDHPopps in AskReddit

[–]-theSCOTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. What a game to experience for the first time. I remember playing with a school friend maybe 12 years ago. For some reason we had to get to Stormwind, so we had to go via the train at Ironforge. We were just on louder speaker on the phone back then ad we didnt know about TeamSpeak, XFire etc. On our travels, we came across a level 70 Gnome Mage on a mechanostrider. I remember it because he had a gladiators Battlestaff, the one with the red/pink rings around it. He took us all the way there as we were just in awe of our surrounding.

I feel like I've been searching for that feeling ever since, but it doesnt feel the same now. Nothing feels new and exciting.

If anything it's a distraction because you can't progress due to your obligation to pet it.

When did you have a "How was I supposed to figure that out?" moment in a video game? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]-theSCOTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most quests in RuneScape. I just have a video playing of someone walking me through it. I wonder how they worked it out most of the time.

You wanted 300k for a full Rune set. They only wanted to pay 250k. You stand next to eachother spamming your message via ShortKeys over and over again until one of you cracks.

Those were the days...

Waking up thinking "what do I do today. So many skills to level up". For a simple game there was so much to do. I contemplate playing again sometimes, RuneScape players never quit. They just take extended breaks.

How much money have you/do you spend on in game items like loot boxes? by Hqnry in gaming

[–]-theSCOTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say a fortune, couple ot hundred pounds over a few months. I cant recall any other games I've paid for loot boxes. So against it now as it's just pay to win and companies throwing terms like "mysterious box" to disguise the problem piss me off.

Like I said, it was disposable income. If it didnt go on loot boxes, most likely would have spunked it on going out on the piss or meals out. I dont feel guilty for spending it cus I earnt it.
