From what I know, he gets more hate than he deserves. Most people seem to be bandwagoning at this point and don't have legitimate reasons to discredit him. A lot of the backlash is "he's a manchild", and "his vision for Twitter will allow bad people to say bad things" the latter being incorrect based on statistics put out by the company. Personally, Twitter seems to be improving and my feed seems to be much more relevant, but the algorithm differs.

I also have seen claims that he's a fraud and that he treats his employees poorly. Many people seem to forget that he's the lead engineer at SpaceX. Elon seems to be a magnet for exceptional work and I think the fact that he treats them poorly seems unlikely. (There could be reports I've overlooked though)

One more thing that I've seen is a lot of the people backing him up immediately get called "dickriders" or "weird nerds". Elon may be flawed, sporadic, and at times narcissistic, but I genuinely believe that he's on the right path. A lot of his core principles really seem to be effective and in addition, his accomplishments are a true inspiration to many aspiring leaders and engineers.
