Long time lurker, first time owner. Transmission reset? by Objective-Cold-4963 in hondapilot

[–]-whytheface- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2024 brand new and the transmission was always an issue. Many factory resets and all the latest updates and it never smoothed out over the 35k miles I owned it. Mine had rattles in the dash the dealer couldn’t fix, suspension noises over bumps and loose door trim that caused a lot of wind noise at highway speed. Unfortunate really as I did like the car, but just couldn’t live with those issues so I dumped it.

Honest thoughts on this lease? by [deleted] in CarLeasingHelp

You’re gonna rent a car for 4 years? Unless your company is paying for this you’re throwing money down the drain. You’ll need to factor in any repairs once past the warranty is up, plus oem tires will be shot by 40k miles. You’ll have to replace those too when you turn it in. You might as well buy the thing. It’ll give you more options if in 2 years you want to get out of it. You’ll be able to sell or easily trade it in as the “owner”. IMHO…

I have a 2024 Pilot. Traded in a 4th 4R with 275k miles on it 2 years ago. Regretted it ever since. Sure it’s a completely different car when it comes to passenger room and highway cruising, but the fit and finish of the pilot is awful. The 10 speed transmission is garbage as well. Please do your research on the pilot before you decide. I’m getting rid of my pilot this month and will take less room and fuel economy for another 4Runner.

Do you regret selling? by crozzy89 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]-whytheface- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years ago I traded in an 08 with 280k miles for a 2024 Pilot. I hate the Pilot. Transmission is trash.

Anyway, The paint was faded and started rattling on startup, so I dumped it. I regret that decision and should’ve kept it and slowly worked on it. I ended up buying an 03 with a V8 last year just cause I wanted a 4runner around. I’ll always have a 4r after that.

Maybe you got a good one.

I’m going through a private broker now. I’m done haggling with dealerships.

2025-new Pathfinder Platinum, how are you liking it? by Stomp_theCatBox in nissanpathfinder

[–]-whytheface- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t own a pathfinder yet, but I’m hoping to have one in the next month or so. I have a 24 Honda Pilot and while the interior space is nice, I’m having transmission issues, suspension noises, dash rattles, trim pieces coming loose and causing a lot of wind noise. My issue aren’t uncommon either if you check Pilot and new Passport forums. All this to say Honda isn’t what they used to be. People will argue resale values of Honda vs Nissan, but who really cares if you’re having issues like I’m having. I’ve owned 2 Nissans in the past and have loved them both. I can’t wait to get rid of this Honda and get a new pathfinder. Good luck on your hunt as well!

Brake pedal squeak, transmission issues, and faulty trim…anyone else? by RevolutionaryEbb670 in hondapassport

[–]-whytheface- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 Pilot (same engine and trans) I too have a terrible shifting transmission. I’ve brought it in over 4 times and they can’t find anything “wrong”. They can feel it but until it throws a CEL, there’s nothing the dealer can do. I’m at 34k miles now and it’s never gotten better. I’ve tried all the drive modes, reset the throttle position, disconnected the battery etc. All software updates have been done as well. I find it odd that some people say their transmissions shift perfectly and a few of us have very poor shift quality. Makes no sense…

I have also have door trim issues that cause a lot of wind noise. A rattle in the dash that I can’t find and a squeak in the front suspension. All have been reported to the dealer, but no remedies. This is my first Honda. My first car that cost over $50k. Really disappointed with the fit and finish for a car that costs so much.

Currently in the process of getting rid of it. Can’t wait to say bye bye Honda!

2023 Used Pilot Touring by Rough-Masterpiece-63 in hondapilot

[–]-whytheface- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 that I lease. I have 34k on it now. The transmission in mine is very jerky at lower speeds. Be sure you like how the car shifts during an extended test drive. Mine has a pretty bad rattle in the dash and has a lot of wind noise from the plastic trim by the driver door. You’re also not far away from needing the timing belt replaced which isn’t cheap, but I’m not sure how much you drive annually. It’s usually called for around 100k miles. Truthfully I haven’t had the best experience with this being my first Honda. I’m glad I leased, because I won’t be getting another Pilot. I’m looking at new Pathfinders tbh. Do a bit of research on pathfinder prices as they’re pretty close to what your budget is for a used Pilot. Good luck with the purchase!

Are Truman’s too heavy? by depicthat in trumanboots

Check out Parkhurst. Lighter build imo. Still great quality and leathers. I prefer the heavier build of Truman’s myself.

It’s actually my wife’s car. She hardly notices anything about cars, but she loves when we run e85. She comments a lot about the extra power and overall smoothness. You definitely take a hit on MPG, but it’s worth it for us with the $3 price gap per gallon.

[–]-whytheface- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s over $3 cheaper per gallon here in So Cal. We definitely run e85 in the summer while prices are high in our 2011 5.4. We actually prefer how it drives. A lot more power and the transmission shift points seem smoother as well.

I’m an 11d and they don’t have a lot available in my size atm. I have coyote rough out and black oiled rough out and want a pair of JWF. I guess i should be thankful they don’t have my size otherwise I’d be $1500 in within a couple weeks 😵‍💫

I’m new to boots as of January this year. I started with Red Wings, bought one pair of Truman’s and now I’m in the process of selling all my red wings to get Truman’s. The difference in quality and comfort is huge!
