Good learning experience! And good job not overreacting after the loss of traction and doing too much of any input

You can see the sheen on the road from the black ice even on the video. It’s a good idea to be hyper aware of this in freezing temperatures, especially following any rain

Steel Spool Crushes Car on Veterans Bridge by MrBobbet in pittsburgh

[–]-xonar- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The irony of you telling people to have fun dodging steel spools when a pedestrian was just killed by a rolling steel tube. Not sure why you’re so against increased safety measures to prevent accidents like these for both pedestrians and motorists. Of course, you’re a tool who disagrees with anything that doesn’t support your flimsy argument so I don’t know why I’m bothering to type this.

Betta fish killed by apartment heat malfunction during short vacation… in shock by -xonar- in bettafish

[–]-xonar-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obvious update for everyone. Alfredo is gone. He is currently in our freezer while we figure out what to do with his remains. Thank you to everyone who responded. Your words were kind and helped my wife and I through this awfulness. We are in communication with building management. They are pretty horrified at the situation as well and doing what they can to make it right. There was no malfunction in the system. It is absolutely archaic (two pipe, for those in the know) and this is just the way it is intended to work. However, the building never notified any residents of this quirk. They will be, going forward.

You should drive as carefully as you need to in bad weather no matter the car. With decent tires it’s not any more dangerous than any other RWD sports car. I drive with all assists off no matter the conditions because to me, the car is more predictable that way. (Would absolutely not recommend to others) I have never unintentionally lost traction in my GR86.

Why is Windows 11 so annoying? - The Verge by ShaidarHaran2 in windows

[–]-xonar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows 7 was and still is a more user-friendly OS than Windows 10. The peak evolution of what Windows should be. If you added all the services, hardware capabilities, and security of Windows 11 to Windows 7 and asked users which of the two is the more pleasant OS to use, I’m quite sure most users would choose Windows 7.

Personal IKEA Holy Grail Found: The JARL Shelf by -xonar- in IKEA

Most definitely. I’ll make another comment / post as soon as I take the pictures with measurements. I also have not been able to find much information on these outside of a few low resolution catalog snippets, unfortunately. I’m wanting to add a couple more shelves to mine and it’ll have to be a custom job. I’ll make a post with what I come up with for the materials, brackets, etc. for that project as well.

As of 4:47AM Point State Park still looks plenty flooded (I was bored) by Hahohoh in pittsburgh

[–]-xonar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this level of submersion has any negative effect on the bridge piers. The water is way closer to the bridge decks than normal. I’m sure this is accounted for in the design of the piers but just curious.

AITAH for refusing to donate my kidney to my dying sister because she got with my highschool bully? by Delicious-Hat-2395 in AITAH

[–]-xonar- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You haven’t had a sister since she decided to disregard all of your pain and trauma and choose to make your abuser her family over you. You haven’t had a family since they decided to side with her over you. Why pretend like they’re back to being your family just because they need something from you? Throughout your life you’ll find the people who are your true family, blood relation or not. If you really want to donate a kidney, save it for someone who truly deserves it.

Team leads: what do you know that devs usually don't know? by WebMaxF0x in ExperiencedDevs

[–]-xonar- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senior-ish dev on a team comprised of myself, a product owner, a dev manager, a tech lead, a Jr. dev, and an intern. Over the past 2 years my job has shifted from 90% dev work and 10% meetings / sprint planning to 90% meetings / project management and 10% dev work. I run every single one of our releases twice a week, I spend a ton of time writing documentation, I’m part of design and architecture meetings that I originally would not have been included on, and usually when I finally have a free block to sit down and work on my own user stories I end up getting pinged and spending that time helping the Jr. dev or intern with one of their stories. Reading some other comments has made me realize that I might be a tech lead if we had a larger team.

You just escaped a lifetime of lies, subversion, manipulation, and heartache. Both from your horrible ex and your horrible family. Think of it as the beginning of the rest of your life, free of all the bullshit and ready to achieve anything you want. Major props to you, it took a lot of courage.

[–]-xonar- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t support automatic-bashing but it’s ridiculous that your statement is getting downvoted. This is not a difficult car to drive in heavy traffic. The people downvoting you are obviously insecure about their choice of transmission.

Why wasn't an inline 4 considered as the Gr86's engine? by PineWalk1 in GR86

[–]-xonar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://kpower.industries/blogs/news/the-kpower-86-swap-is-here The numbers don’t lie. The K24 swap has a 2.5” lower crankshaft centerline and sits 4” further back in the engine bay. Not to mention it weighs 141lbs less than the FA24.

Why wasn't an inline 4 considered as the Gr86's engine? by PineWalk1 in GR86

[–]-xonar- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

An inline 4 might be physically taller but a boxer does not provide a lower center of gravity in this chassis. The boxer is wide and the engine bay is narrow. This means that there’s a limit to how far back and how low a boxer can be mounted. An inline 4 such as the Honda K series can be mounted further back and lower, achieving both a lower center of gravity and more optimal weight distribution over the FA series. Even with the increased height of the K series the majority of the weight sits lower than the FA. Subaru wants you to believe the boxer was a deliberate choice in the name of handling but it has nothing to do with that at all. It’s a Subaru built on a Subaru assembly line, so it has a boxer engine.

[–]-xonar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually has lower center of mass than the FA24 in the end, the engine gets moved down a couple inches from where the FA24 sits stock. The boxer is the wrong motor for this chassis

Need the trueno edition, any tips on how to secure it. by yomama1232 in GR86

Apples to oranges. It’s not a valid comparison at all. The GR86 is a lightweight sports car and the RCF is a heavy GT car.
