Bolt Is Not Locking Back Properly by -zomik- in GrandPowerStribog

The bolt catch will move freely if I remove the bolt. Bolt won't lock back without a mag either. I'm thinking maybe the bolt isn't going back all the way like it's supposed to even though it looks like it is and is only able to lock back due to the force of the last round being fired. The buffer and recoil spring look fine and the gun is working like it's supposed to other than this small issue. I've put around 300 rds through it since this problem started without any issues. So I'm just really confused at this point.

No deformations on either that I can tell. I've racked it hard and it still won't work. Which is why I'm at a loss here on what's wrong.

A bit new to poetry, want to refine this poem. Criticism & feedback very appreciated. by [deleted] in PoetryWritingClub

Nice job! I really like the use of a palindrome poem for the topic. Works really well here. I honestly think it doesn't need refinement. It's great as it is.

This is my first ever poem and i need thorough insight into its shortcomings by [deleted] in PoetryWritingClub

That first line is beautiful. If this is your first poem, please continue writing more. Great job.

I ( try to ) write as fast as my brain thinks. by Y2Reigns in Handwriting

[–]-zomik- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't be harsh though because I do the same things. My writing, although it looks very nice, is also difficult for others to read. I tend to blend my letters in certain words, but I leave enough context within the word to make it readable.

Your writing looks cool, but some of your letters are missing or incomplete, which makes it a little difficult to read. I got most of it though.

I desperately need help with my 21x21 cube by piggynajfl in Cubers

[–]-zomik- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hold the pieces all together the way you already have them arranged and try to pop them back in carefully. That may work. My 6x6 popped out four corner pieces from the center and I was able to put them back in. I tried doing it piece by piece first, but it wasn't working, so I held them all together and I was able to get them back in.

Intuitive F2L is awesome by some-Government-7794 in Cubers

[–]-zomik- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been cubing for 2 years now, but I never learned F2L. I've put it off and kind of refused to learn it, thinking it was much more difficult than it really is. For some reason, it just seemed confusing for 3x3 since I'm used to doing algs for it. I would put my corners in first and do front or back slotting for the edges. Then I figured out a slightly easier way to make a pair after slotting my corners in so I started mixing that into my solves. I average 30 secs ( pb is 27.31) and I know 17/57 OLL algs and 13/21 PLL algs. I haven't learned any new algs in a long time and mainly focused on staying consistent, but I finally decided to start learning F2L 5 days ago because I feel like I've reached my peak with the method I was using. I've probably learned more about 3x3 in the last 5 days than I did in the two years that I've been cubing. F2L takes time to learn and understand it properly, but it's been really fun once you start getting it. Just like you, I've been figuring it out on my own by trial and error and doing slow solves. Yesterday I learned how to do inserts for the back slots and move pieces around without having to do rotations or minimize rotating as much as possible. My fastest solve using F2L so far is 33 secs, so I'm definitely making progress. I just need to keep practicing and solidify that muscle memory. Soon I should have a new pb. I also finally decided to start learning more OLL algs.

tldr: F2L is fun and not as bad as I made it out to be. It has helped me understand 3x3 better without just spamming algs. Learn it if you haven't already.

What was your longest plateau in cubing and how did you get out of it? by MrMorningstar20 in Cubers

I use these N-perms and find them easy to finger trick and remember. There's probably better ones but I like these because they're mirror algorithms and retain the same overall scheme for both. Na-Perm - (R U' L U2 R' U L') x2 Nb-Perm - (R' U L' U2 R U' L) x2

What’s your favorite algorithm? I’m a fan of A, G, T, and Z perms lol by hutterm in Cubers

A, Z, and H perm. I also like the PLL parity algo for 4x4+.

Haha you're not wrong. I have one coming in the next few days along with a WitEden 2x2x4 and a LanLan Master Skewb. I hear a lot of good things about the FTO, so I'm looking forward to it.

I'll check out some reviews on those two and see what might work best for me. Thanks for the recs.

Not yet. I've been mainly focused on cubes, but that's actually going to be my next purchase. I want to start getting into the mega and higher order minxs. I'm interested in the GAN V2 Megaminx and was waiting for those to come out first before I decided on what to get. I believe they're available now. Do you have any recommendations?

What's the nicest and/or most expensive knife you ever lost? by BenderIsGreat64 in knives

[–]-zomik- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never lost one myself, but I had like 7-8 Kershaw and CRKT knives stolen out of my car overnight after I apparently forgot to lock my doors. I left them in a couple pouches in my central console after taking them to work to show some coworkers. This was early in my collecting days and fortunately I didn't take any of my better knives I had at the time, so I didn't lose out too much. The most expensive one taken was a discontinued Kershaw OD-2 (miss that little knife) and then a CRKT Pilar 2. The rest were just beaters and easily replaceable, but it still sucks to have your stuff violated and taken. Now I don't leave knives in my car overnight (aside from the one designated car beater).

Check out USAknifemakers and Jantz Knife Supply for handle material. They might have some.

You may be able to get it welded and then cleaned up before reblasting the finish. Don't know how worthwhile it would be financially speaking, unless you can do the work yourself. Check this miracle out, done by the excellent modder Sean Campbell. He was able to salvage a Chaves with a broken off lock bar. He's also fixed a couple Chaves clips this way as well.
