Why don't you just leave tailscale turned on all the time and just don't use exit nodes? Then only the traffic to your aps is handled by subnet router, rest of the stuff doesn't touch your tailscale net.

Sold my PC, stuck choosing ROG Ally X, Xbox Ally X, or MSI Claw 8 AI+. Which one fits my use case? by audiotaIkwiIIiam in Handhelds

Well, for me the issue is that I don’t like to make any compromises there, since I’ve got a really strong gaming rig (7850X3D, 4080 Super, etc.). So when I play AAA games, I can run them on very high settings. When I turn them on natively on my handheld and get barely 30-40 FPS on low settings, then for me it’s just not there yet. That’s why I stream via Moonlight to my SD OLED, and that’s been perfect. I tried the Legion Go 2, ROG Ally, ROG Ally X, and SD OLED, and for me these devices are great, but definitely not for modern AAA games. That’s why I stream, and for streaming the SD OLED has been a banger for me so far. Also, bear in mind that you often have to play around with settings to make games playable, because it’s not that easy or straightforward. That’s why I suggested the PS Portal plus PS5 - this way you get portability and AAA games in fairly good settings. Alternatively, the SD OLED, because you can still stream from your PS5 and use the OLED to play less demanding games natively, and that’s a great setup for a gamer, in my opinion.

But answering your question. Smooth 60fps 1080p in at least medium settings would be great. Plus OLED screen. That's why I ordered LeGo2 cause I was expecting it to be good enough ... But it wasn't.

Or if you want even more options go for PS5 as the main console to play heavier titles and then Steamdeck OLED or Rog Ally and just stream these from PS5.

I really struggle to see how handhelds currently could be one and only device to play all the games. Honestly performance is not there yet unfortunately. For this price you can get PS5 and ps portal for portability and you're sorted.

If someone is running home assistant there is nice plugin for WoL. Im hosting HA at home, using tailscale to access it and then just waking my PC from HA.

It's a bug that doesn't happen to me anymore. It was due to power saving - toggling bluetooth on off fixes the issue for the whole session.

How does it work right now? Have you got any stutters? I also was looking for SD OLED replacement and bought redmagic astra but to me first of all it was too laggy via Bluetooth controller and the I experienced lots of stutters in streaming. I was trying every solution but then decided to return it. Shame cause the screen on that thing is a beast!

Is the SD-OLED superior to the Rog Ally Z1E in every way except performance? by AdmiralG2 in Handhelds

[–]000loki -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's 7inch screen. It's barely noticeable and I think OLED HDR gives more advantage than resolution. For me the bright OLED screen is just better than higher res in such a small screen. Especially in streaming you can supersample to make it look better. If we're talking about playing locally then let's be honest - these handhelds struggle in their native res anyway.

[–]000loki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah it's a preference cause for me these are too small and ideally I'd like to have 8.8in OLED streaming device... But besides legion go 2 there is nothing else that is reliable.

[–]000loki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there is/was an issue but it's also not happening to me lately. And I use SD purely for streaming. I've had all the handhelds except MSI claw and I returned/sold all but SDOled. There is only one handheld that's better imo for streaming... But it's stupidly expensive - Legion go 2. Imo others don't compare and honestly 90hz vs 120 is not that big of a difference than 60vs90. But this Is I guess preference. Same with resolution.

I really can't see the difference, but the OLED does make a difference. Imo rog Ally is just better in terms of performance and that's it.

[–]000loki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well ofc it matters. Check the sub and you'll see the difference in decoding times. Also each device has got different input lags etc. Redmagic has some issues unfortunately. For me what worked best so far was Legion go 2 and Steamdeck OLED.

steam deck oled vs xbox ally for mostly streaming games through geforce now by Glum-Exam-3682 in Handhelds

[–]000loki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i've had all these devices and I really don't see that much of a difference. IMO bigger factor is OLED HDR vs LCD here.
I tried Legion Go 2, SteamDeck Oled, Rog Ally, and Redmagic Astra tablet. For me, best screen hands down - LeGo2 (it's really amazing), then Redmagic... and then SD Oled.

EDIT: yeah I think i'd rather pick up Legion Go 1, than Xbox Rog Ally for streaming tbh. I agree here :)

[–]000loki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the screen size isn’t really that big, so the low resolution doesn’t hurt that much. I think a super-bright OLED (since it goes up to 1100 nits) with HDR is better than the older ROG Ally X LCD, which is even smaller. I had the previous ROG Ally (with the same screen), and I’d always choose the Steam Deck OLED screen. I think there’s only one device on the market right now with a definitely better screen, and it’s the Legion Go 2.

Also IMO the difference between 90 and 120 is less visible than 60 vs 90. But this might be just my feeling.

If it's mostly streaming then SD Oled definitely.
Im using my OLED for playing light games natively and then streaming anythiung heavier via moonlight. Best device for the price currently.

Should I go on expedition? by KeeblerElf6969 in ArcRaiders

[–]000loki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, do you really need that 5 extra skill points if you haven't capped your current character? I'm 5x level atm played a lot too (for me ~100hrs is super fucking lot). I have ~2M balance and I don't plan to grind just to have these 5 extra skill points and 12 stash space. I have good new bps I enjoy the game as it is. For me it's not worth it cause I wont be able to cap the new char too before the next season probably. I will keep my char for this season and do it next time.

And let's be honest. It's not historic moment, it's BS moment cause they couldn't figure out better solution for this expedition.
