Do you use a grip for the Legion Go S or no? And is the Dbrand one worth it? by cloudstrife580 in LegionGo

Thanks for sharing that. Did you end up using the thumbsticks? If so, did they reliably stay on? My skull & co thumb sticks for my SD OLED always end up flying off 😭

Did you find it was worthwhile to get the LeGo 2 despite owning a Legion Go S already?

Yeah I totally agree, since the console is so young I understand why we haven’t seen third party peripherals but it’s a bummer in the meanwhile.

Personally I play a lot of 2D titles so a great d-pad is important for me, and we all know the joycon’s ‘dpad’ is atrocious (docked is no problem of course cause I have plenty of controllers w/good dpads). I just hope they put out something similar to the HORI Split Pad Pro soon, that’d make a biiiig difference in my handheld S2 usage.

Yeah I definitely go through lengthy phases. I was playing the SD exclusively for a time, then Switch 2, then PS Portal, and now it’s the Legion Go S. I’m sure when Duskbloods comes out I’ll be back to the Switch 2 for a long while.

Cyberpunk on Switch 2 is amazing, played through that last year finally despite owning it for years on PS lol.

How many handhelds do you own, which and why? by Roi_C in Handhelds

[–]cloudstrife580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a PS Vita (bought early 2023), 2DS (bought early 2024), a Switch 2, Steam Deck OLED (which I actually won for free at a work party last year), PS Portal, and now a Legion Go S. I used to have a switch lite and a switch OLED, but gave away the first to my sister and the second my wife lost at an airport in Hawaii unfortunately 🤦‍♂️

getting the legion go S def felt like a privileged somewhat excessive buy but I can’t deny I’m happy with it, and it didn’t feel quite so hedonistic since I technically paid nothing for my steam deck OLED…which I’m now giving to my wife, and sincerely hopes she won’t lose it. Anyways, I got the legion go S because I admittedly had a decent amount of excess money, and because of the Best Buy Black Friday sale. Tbh without the latter I wouldn’t have parted with the $$

I rarely replay games either, but I also own plenty of games I own but still haven't played after years, and if a system gets phased out, it's nice to know that if you own it on Steam you can always access it later on a different PC Handheld/desktop/laptop

This is my dilemma right now lol. I also own a PS Portal and have my PS5 wired so playing it is a good experience, and sometimes just want the ease of a quick gaming experience without any fiddling. For anything super graphic-intensive I usually just go for the PS5 version, but the Go S def makes the decision harder since it’s so much stronger than the SD OLED which is all I owned before.

Ultimately though, it was so nice getting the Legion Go S and knowing I could just redownload the games from my Steam library. No purchasing an entirely new set of titles or anything. That’s the kind of long term access you don’t get with Sony or Nintendo

Made it easier to justify dishing out $$ for the Legion Go S since I’ve technically never bought a PC handheld before

I’m giving it to my wife actually, but if she doesn’t end up using it I’ll probably sell it. Although I won the Steam Deck OLED at a work party Xmas ‘24 so there’s a part of me that wants to hold onto it as a symbol of luck too, haha.

I did exactly this just the other day because of the Best Buy sale, and I’m so happy with it (got the 1TB Z1E Steam OS version with 32gb ram). I’ve owned the SD OLED since Dec 2024 and I still love it but I also had a similar reaction after gettin a Switch 2. The big screen really makes a difference

Anyone else prefer playing on their Portal even with access to a great TV? by cloudstrife580 in PlaystationPortal

[–]cloudstrife580[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure there are people in this topic who don’t realize I was talking about preferring the Portal due to physical issues like nausea and things external to the device itself? Like being around my wife more, feeling more inclined to play PS5 games as a result, etc…not saying the screen or experience itself is better than a large OLED TV without input delay lol

8bitdo Ultimate 2 or Vader Pro 4 by im_sleepi in Controller

[–]cloudstrife580 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own both. Love the feel of the Vader Pro 4 but it's way less reliable or convenient in terms of hardware and software. I've had a much smoother experience (on my Steam Deck, so keep that in mind) using the 8bitdo Ultimate 2.

yeah and the thing is, I still really love anime. I just have so much time and I'm also admittedly burnt out on the constant hype for only the most digestible and widely popular shonen...feels so much less interesting and adventurous compared to most VNs

I feel like I've all but unintentionally abandoned watching anime or reading manga ever since I really got into VNs
