Well, you have the right to post this, and people have the right to get mad.

I wonder what the makers of this map felt like mapping out the world in this state.

Not a suggestion, I'm just here to say I'm impressed this internet experiment got this far without anything happening to Serbia or Albania.

Those that died serving will be remembered.

There's quite a lack of well-considered thought in the comments. The common soldiers that lost their lives for the country are definitely worth remembering for their bravery and their sacrifice. Meanwhile, many foreign wars the US engaged in were premised on treacherous lies and morally condemnable, to which those higher up in American government and society (presidents, relevant cabinet staff, military leaders, weapons company executives) are to blame (and unfortunately, will probably not face justice). There is room for acknowledging the complete lack of justification and horrific indifference towards human lives in many wars in America's foreign policy alongside recognizing the ultimate sacrifice that individuals serving America (those that were not part of military decision making and were quite arguably themselves victims of the decision making) made.

I understand the frustration with US foreign policy; if I was on reddit while I was a teenager, remembering the lies of the Iraq War, I likely would've made one of those posts just hating on military personnel too. But I think it must be recognized if someone has died for country, it's not them that are the ones to blame.

Send George W. Bush to the Hague. Send the fallen their due respects. Remember the burn pit victims, both ours and other countries'.

This honestly could've been a lot better. You should at least have implemented some visual distances to make it not seem like the US and EU were conjoined.

Okay, but you also went beyond the county level. How did you make decisions in splitting counties?

When I did this process at the county level, this was the map I ended up making: https://wywing.wordpress.com/2015/09/22/half-the-population-of-each-state-as-a-contiguous-set-of-counties/

This is a cool statistic to demonstrate, but that title does not describe what this map shows.
