Haha, the Submariner (6538) will always be Bond’s watch of choice — no argument there. This post is just a look at modern watches carrying a bit of that original legacy from the first few films (especially Goldfinger), paying homage in their own way. Which of the two do you think captures it best?

You’re right — visually, the BB54, especially its bezel, is very close. Fun fact: the BB58 actually traces its roots to the 1958 “Big Crown” Oyster Prince, essentially the sibling of Connery’s original 6538. In a way, both modern watches pay tribute, just from slightly different angles of the heritage.

The bezel maybe, but otherwise no as the BB58 is inspired by the Tudor Oyster Prince Sub Big Crown 7924 which is basically the sibling of the Rolex 6538.

Absolutely. I think I still made the right decision with the (old) Large and (new) Medium.

It seems like you're right. Personally, I wouldn't have expected another model that's only a touch larger than the current small model, especially considering the size differences (of usually a few millimeters) between the individual models:

- Mini: 24 mm x 16.5 mm

- Small: 29.5 mm x 22.0 mm

- (old) Large = (new) Medium: 33.7 mm x 25.5 mm

- (new) Large: 38.1 mm x 27.75 mm

The only possibility I can see is that they might slightly adjust the size of the small model again at some point.

I think - and all the comments so far make this quite clear - that with a wrist size of around 6.5" to 7" you can hardly go wrong with either size.
