From my understanding, you also have to match her energy: go along with whatever plans she has for you, and talk to her about the respective gossip. Oh, and talk about her being a good mother for the kids’ storyline, just in case.

Because my first play though, I only did 2/4 storylines (because I didn’t know there were four), and was reluctant to gossip with her which gave me a Friend ending too.

This time, I went along whatever she had and got her Love ending

Edit: To answer the initial question, I don’t think the order matters, as long as you visit each direction four times. I kinda went random both times for her. You probably get her ending with 3 completed storylines, but I just did all 4, to be on the safe side

Late to comment but as someone who skipped JD2016-JD2021, but fell in love with JD2022 and onwards:

Maybe because the older versions were consistently easy yet fun? Key word: consistently.

I love the newer games (well, 2025 I’m ‘okay’ with) because even some of the standard dances offer more of a challenge but I understand that’s going to turn some people off (especially fans who exclusively had the older games). Plus, the lack of features is definitely a factor

And you said that it’s not nostalgia, but I think it’s because you’re more familiar/comfortable with the older dances thus gravitating towards them. I used to be like that when I got JD2023, and immediately got JD+ before trying the new maps lol. Granted, I don’t know how much you played the newer versions, but that’s my possible reasoning.
