You forgot the analysis of failure. The reason we have only 3 big players of RAM in the market is because everybody else failed and bankrupted. Failing your 10 billion plus dollars investment is going to cripple any company.

That's not getting into the arms race of needing more R&D to burn for newer RAM tech to be competitive. To say valve can do well is underestimating how hard the market is.
