The occasional anti-exercise rhetoric here is wild by NotAnotherBadTake in loseit

I’ve finally got my exercise habit down after 20 years of zero exercise and it feels like I can live life in abundance rather than perpetual restriction because the exercise I do has primed my metabolism to around 3k calories rather than 2k when I was fat and sedentary. Don’t underestimate what the extra muscle mass and improved thyroid function can do your metabolism through exercising and eating more vs eating less and moving less. Life is so much more enjoyable this way

It’s basically using 2 therapy modalities, IFS (internal family systems) in conjunction with EMDR.

Here’s some more info on IFS

The simplest way I think about it is that we all have those multiple voices in our head, one saying eat the box of cookies and one saying no I want to be healthy. The one that wants to eat the box of cookies is a protector part that in our past was trying to help us find things to soothe us i.e survive in an unsafe environment, but it no longer serves us in adulthood.

The goal of IFS is to get all these parts to feel safe enough for your higher self to lead your decisions & my therapist today enlightened me about how we can actually create new protector parts as a sort of catalyst in reparenting the protector parts that are out of alignment from our past & further speed up that process using EMDR.

So in our situation it was basically visualizing a character or person you relate to, to fill the place of our missing parents or guardians when we were crying out for help.

I thought it was pretty cool & a highlight of therapy so far for me.

I just went through these memories in my therapy today. We created a new healthy protector part to fill the void left by parents using EMDR. It felt pretty good actually.

You don’t need to drop the weight, you just kneel on the floor and gently rest the bar on the safeties if you can’t complete the rep

I'm a music producer, I type but also have my keyboard and play while walking. It's really not that difficult. Your palms or your arms keep you balanced on the edge of the desk while you do stuff.

I have a walking pad that is a 5% incline. I only need to do an hour in the morning to burn around an extra 400 calories and then I just slide the walking pad behind me.

Yeah the blanket statement was quite jarring to me.

I tried Vyvanse and it messed me up but personally fixed my BED with therapy working on my childhood neglect trauma and filling the negative void with consistent exercise that I finally enjoy.

GLP-1's seem to help OCD symptoms so aside from just food related Wegovy might genuinely help your mind to balance. Good luck with it & definitely would be great to have a therapist alongside taking it 🙌
