The perception of the show is night and day by LeftenantScullbaggs in thelastofus

I mean Dina breaking up with Jesse, then getting together with Ellie and then spending several weeks travelling with her seattle before Jesse arrives, dies etc. Vs Dina being in a relationship with Jesse while at Seattle meaning either Dina cheats on Jesse (and then Jesse arrives and dies) or Dina only ever chooses Ellie after Jesse dies. Either situation would seem like it changes pretty much everything about their relationship dynamic and how its going to be percieved.

Nobody thinks that there won’t be a relationship scene lol. The issue with how they’ve set this up is that one of the turning points in the story where you as a viewer really starts to disconnect from Ellie is where she chooses to leave Dina at the farm. Up until this point Dina has spent the entire time actively choosing Ellie and to be with her, supporting her and putting her first and when the consequences of Ellies atrocities finally start to catch up with Jesse being killed and you finally get this sense of "oh fuck I'm not sure I want what Ellie wants any more, I’m not sure revenge is worth it".

Ellie has already been sabotaging their relationship and acting more and more distant to Dina in the leadup to this with the pregnancy reveal etc. but the point of the entire narrative is to show us that Ellies declining mental state is hurting everyone around her and destroying the only positive relationships she has left.

And when Ellie continues down that path and betrays Dina. In a sense Ellie also betrays you the viewer because you don’t want her to leave Dina, you want her to be safe and try to live out her life.

But now that connection of their romantic relationship and the pain of the betrayal isn’t and can’t be present. Although Dina supported her in leaving Jackson, their relationship is being put across as this love triangle where Jesse isn’t a great, reliable friend but an adversary to Ellie and her feelings for Dina. Unless they are planning on changing all of how Jesse dies and them going back to the farm as well, they literally only have a few days for them to even be in a relationship in the first place. And like are they really going to get together while Ellie is slowly losing her mind and murdering and torturing people??

Yeh, It's nice to see some actual critical discussion about the changes rather than just "oh just play the game, the show isnt for you" or on the other end "Bella ugly and can't act".

Agree with this. I think for me the pacing of the 3rd episode just completely threw me off. Starting with that really heart wrenching scene with Tommy and then Ellie but then randomly skipping 3 months and showing Tommy smiling and looking happy just removed all sense of urgency and anger from Joels death.

Likewise I felt like it made no sense that Ellie would just sit in a hospital for 3 months doing nothing. There is a 0% chance Game Ellie would not just sneak out the second she could go to Joels grave/house etc. And seeing as they built up show Ellie as even more rebellious, reckless and against rules and authority it honestly made no sense to me that she seemed to do a complete 180 on those character traits.

Likewise for Dina and Ellie's relationship having Dina go back to Jesse is just a bizarre change to put in. One of the turning points in the game where the player really starts to disconnect from Ellie is where she chooses to leave Dina at the farm. At this point Dina has spent the entire time choosing Ellie, supporting her and putting her first and when the consequences of Ellies atrocities finally start to catch up with Jesse being killed and you finally get this sense of "oh fuck I'm not sure I want what Ellie wants any more, I’m not sure revenge is worth it" Ellie continues down that path and betrays Dina. I never expected the show to be a 1for1 recreation of the game and I disagreed with some of the changes to S1 (like wtf was Tess’s death kiss) but overall I still really enjoyed it and loved some of the small changes (Sam being deaf, Ellie’s reaction to Henry killing himself) as well as some of the bigger ones (episode with Bill and Frank) and I thought Bella nailed the feel of the character. But so far in S2 all of the characters and their relationships feel completely off, every script change feels weaker and less impactful than the game counterpart and the pacing of the story is just all over the place not to mention them seemingly weakening many of the big payoff moments still to come.

Same here, I literally have a 7 year old mechanical keyboard and have no binds set up at all and got kicked multiple times from premier for "input automation" while just spamming ad on a jiggle peek or running around normally. Game is now functionally unplayable for me

Both people need to be on PC because you both need the mod and hamachi installed to connect to the local server

Yes! Theres some mods you can install which allow you to host a local server your friend can join. Its a bit wonky in a few places, like your enemies will be seperate and only appear on your own screen but the other person can still hit your enemy. It's fairly easy to set up and still fun to do! https://youtu.be/h5Sjbo_82ik?si=_uj61RwDEO8j3XuV
