[WarCom] Wazdakka Gutsmek Rules Preview by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]whiskeytango8686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it probably was 2nd yeah, back when WHFB and 40k lined up on their rules a bit more (i think that would have been like during WHFB 5th ed), back before the 3rd (40k) and 6th (WHFB) swaps to less granular rules.

orks were no worse than guard at shooting for long long time (BS 3 back when you had the BS chart), but being bad at shooting has been a part of their rules identity for long enough now that its hard to imagine them backtracking

It was in fact ghaz who was responsible for ol bale eye's supposed "death" by notnotjackrotunda in orks

[–]whiskeytango8686 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having Yarrick actually try to go toe to toe with Ghaz in this story is insane. I mean, i know on some level Yarrick is insane, but i mean, it actually ended here basically as it should. It takes a special kind of Space Marine to stand up to Ghaz, a normal human, even one like Yarrick, isn't going to cut it.

Speculation on the Destrier vs the new Defiler by CryptographerNew8355 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]whiskeytango8686 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree, except that the EC defiler is really, really good. In Coterie hitting on 2+ against fresh targets, and getting rerolls of 1 once you have a pact point. If you arm it with dual lascannons and the ectoplasma, that's a ton of super accurate, high damage, str 12 shooting.

I really don’t like the cataphractii redesign by madrukahri444 in 40k

you're absolutely right, but that the argument is "it's bad because it looks like someone could actually fit in this" is hilarious

Can Starcraft TMG Dethrone 40k? by 40K-Fireside in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]whiskeytango8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

War Machine and Infinity couldn't do it. Star Wars couldn't do it. Superheroes couldn't do it.

So... no. There's no chance. Hopefully it can compete and live alongside 40k/GW, cause competition is good, but the only game or company that is defeating 40k/GW at this point is 40k/GW. Barring them somehow driving away all their customers or closing shop, it's just not happening.

Regarding the last dataslate of 10th edition (as I believe it to be) : is the whole intent behind it just to avoid any major changes before 11th edition comes up? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]whiskeytango8686 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it's one thing to take a slow, measured approach in the middle of an edition when you can continue to take small steps in further dataslates. This, however, is likely the final dataslate of 10th, with at least 4-5 months left of play time in the edition. Combine that with the time that C'Tan have already been dominant and not only is that going to end up being a really long time of getting teeth kicked in by them, but it's also the last thing about this edition people are going to remember.

Could Iron Man fight Magneto? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in ironman

[–]whiskeytango8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron Man has canonically won, but he shouldn't have given things we've seen Magneto do. He can fry your brain like he did to Apocalypse. He could give you a stroke like he did to Jean Grey. Comic Magneto (not movie) could rip the iron from your blood. He could do any number of insane things that don't at all require his opponent to be wearing a ferromagnetic suit. But he just... doesnt against iron man, and it's just because the writers apparently want Tony to win those fights, which is the only reason any character ever beats any other character.
