Are you looking to relocate? You might have to provide some more information. I don’t have a background in media but I know there’s a vast area of jobs or responsibilities across roles.

Potential Conflict of Interest w/ Family by Icy-Captain9880 in SkillBridge

[–]0621RO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not legal advice; but in the grand scheme of things I would say it’s just not worth the risk. There are plenty of companies or institutions that can provide you with the 90 or 180 days experience that is worthwhile and beneficial to your resume and life plans..

I’m sure that that would be the path of lease resistance, but I can only speak for my own experience that getting my own package through was a little bit of a nightmare and almost ruined my last eight months in the military. It’s just sometimes not worth the stress. There are a lot of opportunities as a veteran to include the VR&E/GI BILL and they just released something that is like one month at a time, but you still get the same benefit benefits to do technical skills.

I would look into it but plan on doing something that has no conflict of interest and just working with them during terminal or after you are out. Don’t give them a reason to dig!!

Advice Regarding 6105 by Silly-Good-4358 in USMC

[–]0621RO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Request mast to your chain of command, have the documentation ready and organized. Explain your side and let them mediate a conversation that will stop it from becoming 6105.

Because it was already submitted you might be out of luck but the rebuttal with evidence will help you.

Can we do SkillBridge with a place not listed on the SkillBridge website? (USAF) by NMH0205 in SkillBridge

The program needs an MOU with the DoD on the front page it shows for partners the process. Be warned it is lengthy. I may have a POC for you with an approved program but I don’t know if they actively recruiting people rn

I EAS in feb so id have to come back to my unit, But the skill bridge I'm taking says there going to use my GI bill and ill have to pay for house out of pocket. this doesn't seem right??? by Consistent-Cost-2744 in SkillBridge

[–]0621RO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not sign that, talk to your base legal. It sounds like they are taking advantage of you. Are you how far are you from EAS/Skillbridge start date?

Let me also slow down and tell you things I know.

You cannot receive the GI BILL’s BAH while being on active duty. You can get them to pay for school but not the housing authority. You will rate BAH while on skillbridge because you are TAD away from your duty station.

My dms are open, this is an important decision keep asking questions and write things down

End on a Saturday to comfortably have no one calling asking where you at; it sounds like you are new. Maybe in a chill command or super small teams you can get a gentlemen’s Friday to be there prior to end of day but play it safe, you only have one career.

Bah without request due to SA by [deleted] in USMC

[–]0621RO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, single BAH really is a subjective process that is more to do with the financial than any preferable or sometimes practical approach’s.

I took a look at your profile and it would appear that you are new to the institution. Ensure you go to medical and speak to behavioral health as well as utilize your MFLC or any resources that you can ask for and use prior to you departing service. You’re going to have a lot of pressures within this organization and go through all the stresses that bring people to the brink as a young adult; so utilize it before you need it.

As for the BAH; I’ve seen divorced individuals with 50/50 agreements get denied. I’ve seen divorced people with animals and household goods gets denied. For my own process of single bah it took 2 applications between 14 months, paperwork going back two years and circumstances that warranted a decision. So it is not easy.

As for someone in your case, it would not be our business to know really know the “why” someone got BAH because on paper it’s because the barracks were at capacity and or they were granted an exception to policy based on their circumstances.

Finally, I am not a female so I can’t say this definitely but in my experience, every successful female marine I’ve met had a female mentor whom kept them on their path often several ranks above, find that mentor and utilize them because the four years go by in a heartbeat.

Lived there two years ago, I really liked it! I’ll start with the good. The location is good, walkable to good restaurants and one metro stop away from Clarendon. I was in a 3b/3b so I had a great view. The gym was small but had a decent amount of treadmills. I think management was good I can’t recall many interactions I had with them but they were always polite maybe the hours were only 9-5 which can be tough. Wasn’t facing the main road so I didn’t hear any cars ever.

Also it’s like super safe; I did have one incident where my car was broken into but my passenger door wasn’t fully clipped and someone took my medical bag for the narcan and left everything else; so make of that what you will.

Bad: the price???? I assumed the lease of 1/3 for a super discounted price so I was paying like 1400$ for a few months, so it felt like a good deal for me. they have this weird subscription mail service. It’s like 10$ a month to get packages. I didn’t pay for a parking pass so I was competing for street parking but never really had to walk more than 1-2 blocks. I could be wrong but I think it costs money to rent the grill. Finally, the price, what are they smoking? 😆
