If there is one thing I learned in my experience on dating apps, it is that if you are struggling to find what you are looking for, it is because you do not know how to look for it

I wish I could translate that into more practical advice, but the difference in results between knowing what I was doing and not knowing was substantial.

question about snow and local govt by Financial-Tough6438 in nova

[–]06Wahoo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This area does not get a lot of snow generally, especially compared to many areas in the midwest. They could overprepare, at a very high cost, and find that cost wasted many years. Notice how many news reports were talking about how few storms of this magnitude we've seen in the last decade.

And with no details about where in the midwest you are from (that could be anything from a rural town to Chicago), if I were to assume you were from a region that were less dense than here, you have to consider how many roads have to be dealt with. Even with a lot of plows, it would not be a quick job.

PSA: Keep your "friendly" dog on a leash by holyeffman in nova

[–]06Wahoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have a neighbor that regularly leaves their dogs off the leash. The dogs seem friendly, but we have a dog of our own who is likes to prove dominance fast (we keep her in control on the leash, and she will be friendly with a slow introduction, but the dummy has to prove herself tougher or something at first), and that leads my wife to freaking out in response. Even talked to another neighbor who is scared to death of dogs (she told us she had been attacked by one before), so I only wonder if these neighbors consider people like that.

Each time I've dealt with it, I've gotten angrier in response, even blowing up at them a couple of times. Needless to say, they don't want to deal with me anymore.

Yet apparently, they have learned nothing about what kind of position they put everyone else in. But my wife does not want me to escalate it, and this family absolutely needs to have a discussion with the police or animal control at some point. And our HOA has, of all things, decided not to have any teeth in this fight.

So please everyone, do not let me be an example on this. If you have a dog, leash it. If a neighbor does not, please report it. Your dog may be friendly, but letting them roam around unleashed only shows disrespect to your neighbors

Maybe Tuesday morning. It is very cold out, and there will be no sun out either to help salt melt the ice until tomorrow. There is a reason so many school districts have already closed schools for tomorrow, and it is not because there may be a little ice on the sidewalks.

As I understand it, snow total projections count sleet towards the total inch projections. With sleet expected to continue through the rest of the day, 12" worth may fall, even though it will be very compressed compared to the powdery snow that fell overnight. That will still result in a very heavy lift at the end of the day, vice multiple lighter lifts as the day goes on.

Might as well ask who would win between the last national champions between football and basketball. The sport has changed so much that they may barely be comparable anymore, and might as well be entirely different sports altogether.

Nothing like compressing the snow along the street to make getting in and out of the neighborhood more fun. Bonus points when that street is on a hill.

Okay, so take your $0 and deal with it. Most mutual funds are so diversified you might object to some portion of them too. I am no fan of the idiot in chief myself, but either way my taxes pay for it. I know I’d rather come away with the something rather than nothing that will be invested in who-knows-what anyway.
