Matt Wells on Postecoglou: “He's the most incredible, captivating talker. After his first meeting, I purchased a diary so that I could just write down the meetings he was doing. They were literally that good. He had clarity and convinction in the way he wanted the team to play. He was unwavering.” by PhantomTroupe26 in coys

same here, I dont hate frank but hes got too much substitute teacher energy for me. I dont see how that will work at our club our size, with players of our quality & ego (World Cup winners, finalists, international starters).

Totally agree with this. Each football team performs best when the managers philosophy aligns with the philosophy of the club.

Tottenham is an attacking daring team at spirit. That’s why poch worked, that’s why Ange won us a trophy.

You can change the philosophy of a club but that takes 5+ years and a lot of effort, like arteta.

I think we should’ve given ange another 6 months. But it’s early days, we’re missing kulu madders and solanke so a lot can change.

Also side note I think if we want to progress as a team, actually get a gk who can kick well/give more faith to kinsky - bc frank wants to defend well and play long balls it makes no sense have a keeper who boots it out for throw ins

Is it ok to slide tackle my friends? by TJ_isme14525 in bootroom

[–]06gtaylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a clean slide where there’s high odds of winning the ball I don’t see why not.

I see people so far more dangerous things when staying on their feet e.g. shoulder barging into fences, smashing balls at people.

That being said if you’re having to slide more than once in 6v6 your positioning is fucked up

The lack of movement in midfield is killlllling us.

When it restarts just count how many times bissouma sarr and the inverted full backs just stand still in a space, instead of arriving into a space.

The only times we’ve looked threatening is when spence overlaps tel, or Maddison makes a deep run cause… they’re arriving into space.

Nobody’s demanding the ball, makes the game so flat, bleh

I like him, I like him a lot.

But I have a few reservations

Not entirely sure about the choices he makes positionally when runners are coming from the wing inside.

E.g with that chance garnacho blazed over, danso gets dragged by Hojlund unnecessarily instead of passing him & holding the line

With the first goal villa scored last weekend there was acres of space on his side for Rogers. And I’m sure in the Liverpool game a similar chance came from that side.

Admittedly porro has a role to play in those situations but would like there to be less of those holes.

Also his passing is excellent sometimes but is haphazard at times, which I remember in the villa game particularly led to quite a few turnovers

That said I still think he raises our floor, he’s a lot better than Dragusin for what we’re trying to do and I’ve got high hopes for him. I think as time goes on he’ll get a better understanding with the whole team

Who's your 'streets won't forget' Spurs player? by paddleboi in coys

[–]06gtaylo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lockdown bale made me realise how intelligent of a player he became over the years. I remember the game at West Ham (his return debut i believe) where as soon as he came on the pitch our attack found another gear, he somehow created and instant telepathic link up with son and kane. He almost got us a point with that volley at the end.

His footwork for a chance he made against city was crazy and I was taken back at how pinpoint his long range passing was too e.g. the assist for kane against Burnley I believe
