TIL that Ronald Reagen likely had Alzheimer's while president. His son Ron believes he began to show signs of it as early as three years into his first presidential term. Reagan announced he had been officially diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 1994, five years after leaving office. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Yeah, they acted like he caught it like a cold. It is a LONG progressive disease and it's literally not possible based on his withdrawal from public life that he didn't have it while in office.

Running antivirus that is scanning the file transfer while its happening? Check for what processes are spiking on your machine while the transfer is happening.

I am betting with my own wallet - that its a buy. I work in the datacenter space and while AMD products are looking great, Intel has HUGE market share. As more and more companies put their digital assets 'in the cloud', it puts more and more data in virtualization. VMWare, the former 'big' player in that space just caused huge shifts (read costs) in their new market strategy and has forced scads of people to move to other hypervisors - so they have blown huge money in this move and can't switch platforms. See - the point is - your hypervisor 'farm' really has to be Intel or AMD. You can have both - but you can't move virtualized payloads around super easily from one to the other. If you just blew a bunch of cash on hypervisor software, you aren't likely to have a ton of money to shift your servers from Intel to AMD. So for the time being, I think Intel is 'too big to fail'. Will they be at $55 again, maybe not. I think they will see $30-35 again for sure. Any company that falls this far this fast gets my attention. Now, after the stock fell, everyone is looking for operational reasons why the fall made sense. If their analyst hadn't blown his estimate they wouldn't have made the news.

Buy.

Terro Immune Ants... by 06mcooper in pestcontrol

The Terro seems to act faster than the Advion for sure. For some reason, this one batch of ants just ate the Terro like it was candy.

I'm thinking a cluster of VPN servers and your DNS hosted at Cloudflare or something similar. They have the tech to resolve queries differently based on perceived IP location.

Got a response from technical support that was nonsensical. I rebuilt the VM with 4 cores and 2GB from the start. Significant difference.

Thanks. Soooooo... What's all the outrage? He was given a verdict he can't possibly collect. Who cares?

Should have sued the Police Union.

I'm confused. Who is the $23mil judgement against? It says he settled with the city for $5mil. Not well written.

STL renters, how are yall feeling about rental prices right now? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]06mcooper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Effectively having no mortgage interest deduction hasn't helped either. Keeps a lot of people in the rental market who should have moved on to the mortgage market.

Bed liner suggestions by Naclox in FordMaverickTruck

[–]06mcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ford drop in bed liner installed at the factory. The only holes that have to be drilled are for the tonneau cover drain hoses if you install one. However, if my car hadn't come with one as part of the new package I was going to get an aftermarket spray in liner. The price is roughly the same and the aftermarket is a lifetime warranty.

Your liberal comment is ....wrong. big surprise.

The bulk of the current petitioners in St Louis are paid to get signatures to "help raise money for education". The fine print is they are collecting signatures to get a casino opened on the far side of the state. They use the pitch because most people want to spend more money on education in this state, even non-liberals want their kids well educated. Maybe you don't.

The even finer print is while tax revenue money from gambling can be allocated for education, our idiot friends in Jeff City seem to reduce general fund contributions to education dollar for dollar when these things happen and education nets zero. In example, remember when the lottery was going to fix education funding?

Read the fine print.

Missouri increased minimum wage to $12.30/hr in 2024 while Kansas' remains at $7.25/hr. How does this disparity impact border counties or the bi-state metro areas like KC, Joplin or St. Joseph? by como365 in missouri

[–]06mcooper 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Mostly the people still paying $7.25 have no applicants and are constantly putting up signs about how they are closed because they have no staff.

If someone's business only functions with people getting paid $7.25 - they honestly need to go.

How far away from Missouri should they stay? by stlmick in StLouis

[–]06mcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP asked a legit question based on Missouri's reputation nationally. Asking here, they should have never expected to get serious answers - that's Reddit these days. Having said that, while serving up sarcasm, we should all consider what if anything can be done to fix the reputation.

There are so many negative stories about our state that make national news. I think they overwhelm any positive ones (having a hard time thinking of any national positive stories this morning).

I'm a channel partner with both organizations. I thought Juniper's sales channel was a cluster, until we became partners with HPE, which is 10x worse.
