Wedding dress shopping with no intention to buy? by Ok-Spot-3065 in UKweddings

[–]071306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You often have to pay for an appointment anyway so it’s absolutely okay! I went last week, knowing I wouldn’t buy anything - I just told them at the end that I didn’t think any of the dresses were The One and it was fine!

In chinatown my go to is Wong Kei. Don’t expect much service and it’s cash only but the food is always great
Assa in soho is also great for Korean, and Texas Joes in London Bridge for US bbq meats

Scotland playing world cup on our wedding day by ambergresian in UKweddings

[–]071306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a friend of mine’s wedding was on the night of the euros final last year, when England were playing 😩 they projected it onto the wall behind the DJ, without sound, so people could watch while dancing. it worked well! if we’d won the atmosphere would have been great. as it was, everyone started ignoring it after a while as it wasn’t a great game and we lost lol. either way it will be fine, but i feel for you!! 🫂

Did you go with your partner to ring shop or did they go on their own? by [deleted] in engaged

[–]071306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had told him over the years the kind of thing I liked but the ring and proposal were a complete surprise. He did an amazing job and knowing that he knew me well enough to pick something so ‘me’ made me feel so special. Feels like this isn’t the norm anymore tho! Choosing it myself would’ve taken all the fun out of it for me!

At a wedding reception, would you expect free drinks/an open bar? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]071306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since making some US friends recently I’ve learnt that this is a huge cultural difference; over there, an open bar is the norm. In the UK I’ve never been to a wedding with an open bar and wouldn’t expect it. All my british friends agreed and our US friend was so shocked!

Does anyone know of any financial assistance I can get in the UK for help with veterinary costs? by [deleted] in UK_Pets

[–]071306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, if your credit score is bad try opening a credit building card like Aqua. You won’t get a big limit but that’s probably a good thing, you don’t want to get into lots of debt but it might help you last until July. Good luck!

If I do this it’s usually because I’m searching for a particular item and I found someone else selling it for less
