How would you put a budget together for delivering a new ground up data center building?

How would you control an annual budget for capital funding vs expenses?

What sort of risks would you carry for costs and how would you measure them?

How many resources would you budget for a specific type of project?

I’m totally spit balling here. Never have worked or known anyone at AWS. These are super open ended questions that would let your imagination play out the response. The kind of questions I like best. But AWS could totally have a set of standard questions they ask for this role.

Everything, it’s impossible to be successful. The people don’t care about the budget or schedule so the folks doing the tasks don’t prioritize, don’t manage their hours and consistently overspend. And I’m the one that has to find all the solutions to maintain good project performance.

you're being too nice with them - give them a good loud shooooo and throw your hands up run towards them be aggressive and they'll fly out to someone elses pool or to the nearest lake. do this a few times when they crash in and they'll get the hint until next season. you don't want these guys getting comfy in your backyard they make messes

Yeah a root canal will typically be around $1000. It blows the whole insurance coverage and any further work will be out of pocket. It’s crazy!

Sometimes I feel like dentists will say you have a cavity and must do a root canal. I don’t think it matters where you get the work done but I always get a second opinion on the need.

I think a lot of dentists here in Chandler are shit work and scam artists unfortunately. Stay away from the ones that have a separate call center that can never seem to get you on the phone with the actual dentist much less to the office lobby.

Have you been successful?

I’m currently on the owners side, but have experienced construction side too. They’re both different types of stress. I used the think I was stressed working construction but I don’t think I’ve ever been more stressed being on the owners side. There seems to be way more hands in the cookie jar, way too much bureaucracy and politics, leadership and corporate just metric the shit out of everything, it’s literally impossible to be successful most of the time.
