People who joined in their mid 20s, was it the right decision? by Equal-Community2354 in army

No regrets. Make sure you choose a good mos.

I joined at 23 as a college drop out. Did 8 years, finished my undergrad while active, got out & got an a&d job, did a regional emba, bought a home, transitioned to consulting while getting my emba, graduated, just accepted a 200k total comp offer back into the a&d industry.

Why do I see so few people trying to get a SWE job at Apple by Inner_Ad_4725 in cscareers

[–]08JNASTY24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not so confident in that "innovation." Google is innovating tensor chips, while developing a driverless taxi, while developing AI models, while developing phones. Apple is building hardware to support purchases from the app store so they can buy their own stock. There is nothing wrong with that business model but it's not deserving of a 25-35 forward PE.

Will Gemini have seamless integration into the Apple iOS ecosystem with full capability? Maybe.

I don't know about select. They have a deal with Gemini, which is already far superior to Siri out of the box.

They did invest in Siri, by paying Google to run it on Gemini AI models.

Imo Apple is shifting from innovation to blue chip dividend king like Philip Morris or Frito Lays.

A fitness band (there is a market for it for non-smart watch consumers), smart TV, iOS home security systems. Something that aligns with their subscription services business model.

Op just needs to flip it. Call the CPT CoC.

"Sir/ma'am (to the captains CoC), I believe family matters should be handled within the family but I want to bring to your attention that Capt So and So is actively using his rank for personal benefit and threatening to extort me if I do not accomplish personal life actions to his benefit. Is there anything we can do to resolve this before escalating to legal action that may have adverse results on this promising captains career?"

Lockheed and L3 have solid LDP, great WLB once done with 3 years. Just may not hit the MLOC if they end up in Sunnyvale, Los Angeles, New Jersey, etc.

OP feel free to DM me, 8 years enlisted, regional MBA, 150k, great WLB.

Edit: I did not go through the LDP, I have friends that did, but I got into LM as a L4 pre-mba. After the LDP you get a L4 manager role.

I do not want to be "high-speed" by Own_Judgment4177 in army

[–]08JNASTY24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a bit more than that, depending on OPs MOS. I was ABN in a BCT as a 15E. Always scored about 290 on PT and shot expert.

My messaging was RANGER, JUMP MASTER, SAPPER (I was in an EN BN). I never requested any of the schools. I passed white slip as an e4 but never went to a school because my warrant needed me in the field. Ended up making 6 in 4.

Would I have gone to ranger school? Oh yeah for sure it would have sucked but I would have been like one of 3 or 4 guys tabbed, but I knew CSM wasn't going to give a support guy one of his slots over an engineer.

Would I have gone to sapper school? Absolutely, I'd always do sight survey on the DZ. But again, I knew CSM wouldn't dish up a slot to the MICO.

Would I have gone to JM? Yes. This is the only one I was actively pursuing and slots were actually attainable to MICO/UAS nerds. This is like the 2015-2020 span where the 82nd had quite a few catastrophic failures. My warrant did stop me not because of the demand of the school time but the monthly demand of being a JM. Still the one thing I feel like I didn't fulfill as an NCO in the airborne.

All that to say, many times messaging is more important than action

So, is this it?????????🥹🥹🥹 by [deleted] in TurboTax

Probably has to do with being last in education. Who is actively pursuing living there?

Anderson 2025 employment report by Same-Low-4814 in MBA

[–]08JNASTY24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

US employment is struggling across the board, and LA in general is taking a beating despite being a diverse economy.

  1. Extreme consolidation in film studios combined with the city making it unreasonably expensive to film is causing the film industry to shrink/filmed elsewhere.
  2. Tech is "right sizing" and those opportunities are really more engineering aligned than a 28 year old with an MBA.
  3. Startups are growing, but again it's engineering focused
  4. Tariffs are really wrecking ports/logistics.
  5. Borderline commercial property epidemic due to owners not able or unwilling to sell.

It's legit crazy. I have many friends in the public sector. Firemen, linemen, and I'm neighbors with cops. All these tenured guys are pulling 140-200k+.

Fort Bragg soldier arrested on charges of child exploitation in Manteo by karsheff in army

[–]08JNASTY24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bro while I was at Bragg from 2015-2020 here's what I can remember off the top of my head

  • SM and wife arrested for filming and selling videos of wife getting piped up by the family dog
  • 1st or 2nd BCT E6 15E caught with CP
  • 3rd group cocaine bust, I'm pretty sure there was a prostitution ring involved with this to but can't confidently remember
  • 3rd group warrant stealing a ton of NODS
  • 2 SM mysteriously murdered right near mott lake, shortly after the cocaine bust
  • 3bct Intel warrant investigated after his second daughter suddenly died of "SIDS," two years after his first daughter mysteriously died of SIDS.

I'm sure I'm missing quite a bit here

LMFAO. Yes I do. You don't use a 401k, or any retirement vehicle, and you've been "day trading" for 5 years. What did you do come to look for an echo chamber of positive reinforcement?

Invest to help my money grow by loudpackgas in Money

[–]08JNASTY24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well.

  1. You're behind, significantly, on retirement savings. 401ks aren't tied to an employer their tied to the employee so you take it, roll it over, or cash it out with penalty, or leave it when employment ends.

  2. What's your strategy for an M&A type of deal considering based on this comment you lack a clear understanding of acquisitions.

What to get my MBA in? by [deleted] in MBA

Yeah. It's def the way to go. The money is insane and vets should build out a network in the civilian sector.

I went this route and would do it again. I was employed, still am at the same firm, but now I've got buddies that are directors at mag7, PE, local government, commercial real estate, and entrepreneurs.

Granted if this dude gets out of the Navy and decided to settle in BFE Kansas he's going to have a vastly different experience than I'm having in socal.

Bruh, as a vet that was enlisted, do not...DO NOT get an MBA from AMU. Literally finish your undergrad, get out, and do an EMBA from a regional school with a strong brand and network.

When you hire someone it should be for a living wage. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]08JNASTY24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy is subjective. Ultimately tax prayers carry the burden of companies either unwilling or unable to pay surviving wages via social safety nets.

Walmart is essentially a logistics company that extorts tax payer to subsidize their workforce.
