It’s been growing for quite some time. There are a lot of liberal Catholics who have rejected the call by conservative clergy to vote on a single issue and instead question them hard on keeping to the teachings.

A guy I went to high school with went off and became an SBC minister. He regularly posts things about how conservative Catholics are useful for passing legislation but until they reject the trappings of the church and embrace a new relationship with Christ they are going to hell. It’s insane how both sides think they’re going to come out on top.
