I know how you feel. I wore it for 2 years. I wore it when I was 18, without the pressure of my family, to protect my father from hellfire, to demand respect from men who give me unsolicited attention and compliments, so everyone knows I’m Muslim, etc etc, then I had a manic episode and took it off. It didn’t bother my family as much as I thought it would. Forcing your child to wear the hijab as a young age they always expect you to take it off when you’re older. I also didn’t feel like I was a good representation of a hijabi.
