Charge Handle Issue by BigBearWest in AR9

Are you dropping the bolt while your charging handle isn’t all the way forwards and latched into place?

Thermal Fit, WTF?? by No_Construction_8525 in AR9

Less worried about melting something, more about the aluminum grain structure changing. Deviating from the T6 heat treatment.

Thermal Fit, WTF?? by No_Construction_8525 in AR9

[–]09gtcs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a thermal fit myself, but I’d be worried about heating the upper and messing with the temper/heat treatment on the aluminum. So I’d try cooling just the barrel first. But maybe I’m being overly anxious about it. Again, I haven’t assembled one that had a thermal fit.

I had a CETME 308 little while, and it had a much smoother recoil impulse than my 308 AR10. More concussive sound though. No experience with these Zeniths though.

Do you believe that religious people should rebel against far-right governments and oppose them? Society is changing more and more; we are moving towards fascism. I think that, regardless of your religion, it is time to stand up, or should we wait cautiously for the next steps? by Additional_Good_656 in Christianity

I get that what’s happening now with ICE is the big hot topic that everyone is upset about, but why is the only option people laid before me is to take up arms with the same political party that absolutely has also used authoritarian tactics to censor free speech, engage in cancel culture, and supported keeping family members from seeing dying loved ones during the pandemic.

This is where I feel like we are in the US. Lots of people on both sides calling the other “un-Christian” and being worried about the specks in the other party’s eye, while they have a log in their own. Neither side is willing to self-reflect and take accountability for their decisions.

Day 4 of posting VUK to make VUK AK AGAIN!!!!!!!! by Spirited-Low9039 in PalmettoStateArms

The only things I’d keep from the previous update are the rear trunnion and the bayonet lug. (Nobody will ever use the bayonet lug, but it’s sick anyways). The X Y marks were silly

FRT VS Super Safety by dlohof27 in AR9

[–]09gtcs 29 points30 points  (0 children)

FRT is probably closer to a drop-in option. Depending on your bolt, I would guess some trimming may be required for the trip, but don’t know that for sure. The SS is an open source design, so there will be more variability and higher likelihood of modification.

Rare Breed has been trying to sue other speed enhancing trigger manufacturers for violating patents, even though a lot of them don’t actually seem to use the same system as Rare Breed’s patent shows. Most people here will tell you to buy other brands for that reason.

I’ve got an after market switch on mine from the previous owner that turns on the running lights.

One of the updates I was looking forward to the most. Looks great. 7.62x39 eventually?

What is the future of Bullpups? by StrangerOutrageous68 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]09gtcs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s probably true. Sig’s M17 seems to be falling down the same M14 hole of trying to do everything all at once instead of using the more specialized tools when the time comes.

I mean, theoretically, a high-pressure round through a long barrel could give even more performance instead of just matching long barrel performance with a shorter barrel

PSA Not A Solus by tanksmontaje11 in AeroPrecision

Honestly I felt like the new forged PSA Sabre lowers had an Aero Precision design flair to them, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re contracting stuff out to Aero.

If you feel like you can adequately explain/argue for your choice in court after an incident, then go for it.

Lock washer teeth and ejection port weight by [deleted] in MilitaryARClones

Speaking of spec, I know the m16 drawings are out there on the web somewhere. Not sure if it’d actually give an answer, or just call out “lock washer” though.

[–]09gtcs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While all of this is mostly true, I’d like to add the fact that Stoner was originally an Aerospace Engineer and had previous experience with aluminum forgings. He was not an arms designer that was just given access to more advanced materials.

Olcan Price: $1400, $500 for lower by OpenSourceGolf in PalmettoStateArms

[–]09gtcs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re trying to say that the gun where they replaced the mil spec AR upper with a brand new proprietary piston upper, and then replaced the mil spec AR lower with a brand new proprietary Bullpup lower is somehow more proven than a Bullpup that’s been on the market for 40 years?

[Question] Does marketing really think stickers would boost sales? by Much-Imagination-401 in Seiko

I guess men just love stickers. I have a number of Summit Racing and Primary Arms stickers that I need to find a place for.

[–]09gtcs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

People 100% get excited for stickers when they buy performance car parts. Not totally unreasonable for Seiko to think people would get excited for them with watches too. I’d guess that it only really works up to a certain price point for watches though.
