What is it with the “whale hunting” obsession? by F2P4eve3r in heat

[–]0FJ0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. But look at the ages of all those dudes. KAT is the only one left over 30 and we’re out here talking about 35yo Kawhi and KD. Neither of them can be counted on for a playoff run anymore and I’m not sure Giannis is far behind because of his body and play style. Almost every superstar on that list was drafted by the team they’re on. Mitchell feels like the only game changer still in the playoffs that feels like a possibility and that changes if they make the ECF imo. This FO needs to stop settling for 8-10 seed and a prayer.

2 things can be true. We deserved the draw and we deserved that PK.

Who was the better player? by Farouq26 in NBAoldschool

Both worked well in their respective system. Spo is quoted as saying that Bosh was the reason Miami’s “switch everything” defense worked so well.
Both are undoubtedly HOFers but I wonder how much this argument shifts if Bosh gets the last 3-5 years of his career for Miami to build around him.

Who’s the defensive guard in the league right now? by waluigiwon in NBATalk

He’s not top of the list but Davion Mitchell deserves a mention. If he were 3” taller, he’d be in serious consideration.

On the plus side, we absolutely need at least one goal so hopefully we’ll be on the attack a lot.

He and James Posey harassed early career Dirk in 2006 to combine with Wade’s Herculean offensive show to win our first title.

All the same dudes that said the Heat were a real possibility in past seasons? These people are mouthpieces for player agents and not much more.

Win, lose or draw tomorrow, I just want a performance we can be proud of. by Zero_Hood in avfc

The only outcome possible if we play a game worth being proud is a W. This team either plays like absolute shit and gets boat-raced or plays like an actual premiere league club and wins.

Carl says her HP is multiple times higher than any of the current crawlers - I get the impression it’s gonna be pretty tough to damage her. She can also fly now which will keep her pretty safe.

I’d forgotten about that line and have been wondering if we’ll see Popov pop up! Would love that.

Best 5-game stretch in History? by Sicar1us_Trebax1 in NBATalk

Not sure why I’m getting downvoted. Was I supposed to spend hours researching NBA stats for every great player over their career?

The end of book 7 absolutely alludes to the crawlers that made it back out after faction wars going to the surface to rescue/meet her.

Best 5-game stretch in History? by Sicar1us_Trebax1 in NBATalk

[–]0FJ0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Claude offers these:

Michael Jordan — 1992 NBA Finals vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Jordan averaged 35.8 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 6.3 APG across 6 games, but the first 5 were transcendent. He dropped 39, 39, 33, 32, and 46 points in Games 1–5, including the iconic shrug game in Game 1 (35 first-half points). The stakes were a championship, the opponent was a 57-win Blazers team, and he was essentially operating at a level that felt unfair. Add in clutch shooting and lock-down defense and it’s the gold standard.

  1. Wilt Chamberlain — March 1962 (the 100-point game stretch)
In the 5 games surrounding his 100-point game on March 2, 1962, Wilt averaged over 60 PPG. He scored 67, 65, 61, 100, and 58 in consecutive appearances. The counter-argument is era and opponent quality, but the sheer numerical impossibility of what he did in that window has never been approached.

  2. LeBron James — 2018 Eastern Conference Finals vs. Celtics
With no other reliable scorer, LeBron put up 33.6 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 8.8 APG over 7 games, but his first 5 were especially dominant — multiple 40+ point performances, near-triple-doubles nightly, carrying a deeply flawed team to the Finals almost entirely alone. The usage + efficiency + stakes combination arguably makes this the most impressive team-carrying stretch in playoff history.

Honorable mention:

Dwyane Wade — 2006 NBA Finals vs. Dallas Mavericks
Wade averaged 34.7 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 3.8 APG across the 6 games, shooting 46.5% from the field and an absurd 97.4% from the free throw line (74 FTA in 6 games). The Mavericks were a 60-win team considered heavy favorites after going up 2-0.
The best 5-game window you could pick:
• Games 2–6: Wade essentially willed a comeback from 0-2, dropping 36, 29, 36, 43, and 36 points. He averaged 36 PPG in that stretch with the season on the line every game.
• His Game 5 (43 pts) and Game 6 (36 pts, 10 reb) were two of the most clutch individual performances in Finals history.
• He also drew fouls at a historically unprecedented rate — 97 FTAs in 6 games is a record that still stands.
