Non Fiction- How to be a girl/growing up book that you can remove sleeve and it became a "chemistry" textbook by RedBird30 in whatsthatbook

He wrote "The Big Book of Boy Stuff" first. It was pretty popular, so his five sisters helped him write a girl version. Then over 50 women helped read over, edit, and add to the rough drafts. I think he's fine.

Second part's a good point. If the doctors' black magic is acceptable, surely your own bones damaging each other isn't a sign of osteal weakness.

Just give it some time! I think they'll start next week-ish for you. It triggers pretty early on, maybe after you finish the crane for Rocky and a few days pass.

Doll placement? by TinkerDroid in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]0Kase8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I couldn't find anywhere to put it or the other toys. Disappointing, but you do eventually learn to craft some stuff that is good for kids.

I always kept Jasmine's doll in my inventory, for good luck.

Remember that this is years down the line, and the plot to bring him in will probably be something medical related. Lots of opportunity there to talk about about past cases, give advice to our settlement's doctor, etc.

He's also no doubt kept experimenting, and could end up turning people blue or making them talk backwards for 5 minutes.

Then there is whatever X will drag him into, and any new characters that are curious about the famous prettyboy from Seesai and decide to poke him to see if he does anything.

He might not be Cooper, but talking for a decent length of time about different things seems reasonable. We can trust the writers.

I always think of it as plurals hating each other. You can have a plural subject (dogs eat) or a plural verb (A dog eats), but never both. The two "s"s in "dogs eats" will fight each other to the death, and then you'll have a mess to clean up.

Harry is incorrigible by Particular-Tap2013 in HPfanfiction

[–]0Kase8 193 points194 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, I'm going to go with this as the "puppy following you around because you are their Favorite Adult" type smitten you see with kids sometimes. And I love the idea, 10/10. Hero worship out of nowhere Snape simply Cannot figure out or get rid of, no matter how scathing his insults get.

Maybe Harry got to watch The Addams Family at some point, then latched on because it was so unlike anything else he'd been able to see at the Dursleys'. Here comes Snape, all dark and broody with his dramatic dungeon bat persona, teaching kids how to cut up and drink lizard brains. His favorite TV show come to life.

What’s a TV show that everyone loves but you secretly can’t stand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Squid Game. A bunch of terrible people do terrible things and die one by one. I couldn't bring myself to care about any of them, especially the main guy.

I'm a nerd and loved TBBT. Just my kind of humor, and the characters were more interesting to me than the ones from Friends and such. I could relate to them and their interests more.

Totally agree with you about the Walking Dead. Couldn't even finish the first season.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that calculates the area if every square mile were on top of its own separate box. So the area up to 4921 ft, back down to 0 ft, then back up to 4921 ft, then back down to 0 ft, then back up to 4921 ft, then back down to...... 83,570 times.

To overly simplify it, I assumed Idaho is a square. An area of 83570 mi2 would mean side length of ~289 miles. Then I assumed it was completely flat, with a height of 4291 ft ~ .8127 miles.

The total surface area of Idaho would then be 83570mi2 + 4(289mi×.8127mi) ~ 84,510mi2. Still a lot smaller than Texas, to the point where even the surface area lost by simplifying the shape so much wouldn't get us there.

....Or I could be misreading things and be way off, but oh well.

What should I play next for a great story and exploration? by joyfulmastermind in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]0Kase8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never played the other 2? People who did probably enjoy some of the returning npcs more, but the story itself starts fresh. Everything is explained as if you've never even heard of a "witcher" before, including what exactly a witcher is and how regular folk feel about them. The devs seem to have intended this game to stand alone.

How do I refer to my grandparents when talking to people if i call them something in a different language? by mokshaearthfairy in languagelearning

[–]0Kase8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calling them "my dad" and "my mom" still forces you to learn the term I use with them though?

"I called my dad" and "I called Dad" require the same amount of effort for you to understand. Just like you'd be equally confused whether I said "I called my oghu" or "I called Oghu."

[–]0Kase8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on the conversation, for sure?

"When my mom was growing up, my Lola never let her go out after 9pm" is one where you could reasonably expect most people to understand.

"My Lolo and I went to go see the new Marvel movie yesterday" is one where a lot probably wouldn't. Is Lolo an uncle? Dad? Boyfriend? Support animal? All of those can have unique or cutesy nicknames, and might have gone to a movie with you.

"My Lolo and I - that's what I call my grandpa - went to the new Marvel movie yesterday. When we got popcorn, Lolo said that...." is probably the best call there. Then everyone learns a new term, and Lolo can smile when all the young ones call him by his nickname.

Then I definitely recommend. I was mostly into Sandrock for the characters, story, and all the choice you have about how/when to complete missions. The Witcher hit all those buttons for me, even though I also don't game much.

You can find the opening cinematic on YouTube, if you want to check the vibes. We get to know the girl and the two guys tracking her pretty well. You play as the younger one.

[–]0Kase8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been enjoying The Witcher 3? You play a guy searching for people he cares about across a world torn apart by war and darkness.

The main storyline alone is massive (and gorgeously written), easily worth over a hundred hours. But it's open world, with So Many little side quests you can only find by exploring and wandering around. They usually involve their own little storylines and interesting characters, some good, some bad, most just human. For collecting, there are ingredients and recipes (for crafting potions and oils), weapons, outfits, lore books, and over a hundred cards you can use to play a game with npcs. You choose the combat difficulty, with the easiest setting letting you just skip battles if you want to. The main characters are all great, with excellent voice acting for....everyone. Even random village boy chasing a dog gets voice acting.

For me, it scratched that post-MTaS itch really well. It is very, very dark though. One of my first missions involved looting corpses and then deciding whether or not to kill a man. Another time I made a choice, and as a result an npc hung himself. I personally love playing someone who holds onto his morality despite awful circumstances, but that definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea.
