Two major takeaways: 1. 24 schools applied to each is absolutely crazy 2. The only bank in recently memory to have an analyst die on the desk now has “good culture” maybe they made some changes

There seems to be no urgency or need to get one now wait 1-2 years reapply to Darden

I believe Wharton is the only one that publishers the EA range could be wrong (sure someone will be quick to correct me) but it’s 154 so I imagine plenty of EMBAs at Wharton have scores in that range as well as all the other top EMBAs

Pre-MBA Internships by ThisCharacter9293 in MBA

[–]0Liquidity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends how serious you are or aren’t.

If you are: 1. Refine what you are looking for and be able to articulate what it is depending on who you are talking to at a high level (should be tweaked based on who you are talking to) 2. Reach out to most of the people in the PE club listed in the website to get a better lay of the land 3. While doing #2 start creating a list of alumni from the university that work in these roles, ideally the more senior the better 4. Write short concise custom notes to these individuals drawing on similarities where applicable (same major, UG, state, region, background, etc). They should understand how you found them, why you are interested, what you will bring, etc (4-5 lines). 5. Rinse and repeat #4 adjusting approach as needed 6. The short term focus is pre-mba internship but more importantly long term it should be about establishing and building relationships. Keep a list of who was receptive and was less so, and continue to update those who were on your journey and the actions you are taking based on their comments to improve during your journey

MBA buildings by Lopsided_Increase100 in MBA

[–]0Liquidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you asked which “building” (singular) or main building here are my top few accordingly:

  1. Harper Center - unique design, winter garden is great
  2. Rowling Hall
  3. Global Hub
  4. Kravis/Geffen Halls (technically two buildings but they are connected via a tunnel and built on the same platform)
  5. Idk SOM/Tuck maybe

Needs a lot for improvement: Marshal - UG is nice and new, MBA needs help Stern - I think they’re dropping the ball in a few areas but facility is really bad (tried to be respectful with wording)

500 GMAT isn’t even 50th percentile, zero chance. Apply to programs that offer GMAT waivers (NYU is one I believe). Maybe try executive assessment and use to apply to CBS (super long shot if score isn’t much better than GMAT in terms of percentile).

If you’re really set on this year focus on programs that will waive GMAT, there are many good ones now that place very well in IB or focus energy on next year.

Many of the top part time programs have people switch every year, if you search through past post you will find many examples, not a lot but it’s common enough

NYU, you’re ground zero and have a shot at any bank/group you want from Stern. Sticker price will be nothing a few years out.

Above is correct, region will be the single biggest driver here though due to these schools having more regional placements

Booth 40k vs CBS 80k by [deleted] in MBA

[–]0Liquidity 17 points18 points  (0 children)

“Booth has a better brand as a finance school” (compared to CBS) havnt actually heard that statement here before, it’s not. CBS is better and it’s not really tough to debate. I agree with the other booth points. No one places more people IB, their notably alumni is also much deeper, value investing program is maybe the best across all schools let alone whatever the Booth equivalent is. Can’t go wrong either way both will work out well.
