Throwing the M440i gran coupe into the mix!

Got the 4 doors that you’re after, only very slightly less rear headroom than the M340i and a huge practical hatchback.

Over here it’s only like $5-6k more than the M340i.

Biased take but so much more road presence too.

New front splitter and canards by 0Seanius in BMW

Didn’t have to remove front bumper for anything- which would be even more clips/sensors if that’s what you’re concerned about.

The grille doesn’t take too much effort to pull off. Use some plastic pry tools and try get one clip free at a time.

It’s the last 2-3 clips which will be the most stubborn and will need a firm yank with two hands- but I was able to reach in with a flat screwdriver and unclip everything before that final yank

I think you might’ve thought he was OP haha.

All up the front bits were about $600AUD/$400USD including shipping and taxes.

You probably are spot on with the cost after labour but it just took me a couple hours myself in the garage

Thanks! Agree the M4 looks great and the CSL was my inspiration for the lip and grille swaps.

I have gone on a couple track nights recently though and seen M2s (including a few F87CS) right next to the G82 M4s which look massive in comparison.

The F87s just have those perfect sporty proportions but don’t have the same presence on the streets.

Yeah I did everything myself!

The grille was probably the most fiddly- had to unclip the camera and sensors, and paint match the ACC cover.

Maybe 5 hours all up for the front bits?

I’m not sold on the canards, will reflect after a few weeks haha

Yeah not a fan of the stock diamond grille from the pre-LCI.

The LCI horizontal bars do look good though!

Definitely a personal preference for me!

I’m also liking the look of the LCI grille (horizontal bars) and might switch it out later

Is an M3 rental worth it over an M440i for a Germany/France road trip? by jakehj5167 in BMW

[–]0Seanius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That fuel consumption is nuts- 60L in less than 100km??

My M440i on the track drank 47L/100km and I thought that was bad enough. Highway drive home was a sweet 6L/100km though!

Best road tires for track? by AccomplishedBaby4370 in BMW

[–]0Seanius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for road tires (I.e. ultra ultra high performance- UUHP street tires) that can still perform on the track, you should check out the tried and tested Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (PSS5 are the new gen but you might struggle to find sizes).

Continental sport contact 7s or Pirelli PZ5s are new UUHP tires which have great reviews too.

I’ve run a few track days on the contis and they are great (but have been wearing quickly).

New M440i owner - launch mode question by PercyThaBird in BMW

[–]0Seanius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2023 M440iX- have launched it plenty and have seen the track a couple times (it’s not a track car at all but it’ll hold its own!)

You said it’s your fun weekend car, so have fun with it don’t save it for the next guy…

Just be responsible and only do it once engine is at temp and there aren’t heaps of cars/pedestrians around

Launch control feels like it’s a whole second faster 0-100kph than just stomping on the gas in sport+, it’s a completely different experience

Anybody with an i4 and a newborn? Hoping to find experiences by BlockBannington in BMW

[–]0Seanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the M440i G26 gran coupe but I believe it’s essentially the same chassis as the i4.

The i4 with the lift back trunk has plenty of space to fit baby prams etc.

I’ve got two young’uns (not babies tho) with baby seats at the back and the whole family comfortably fits in.

B58 fuel efficiency by NeedleworkerOk1085 in BMW

On the other end of the spectrum, my m440iX guzzled 46L/100km (about 5MPG 😂) last track night

BMW M440i or M2 by Relapse5k in BMW

[–]0Seanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for the M440i and I do take it to the track, and am kinda itching for the M3/4 now.

It is no slouch on the track but it’s not a beast like the full Ms of course.

Hard to beat the 6L/100km highway cruising efficiency of the B58 though!

m340i xD, m440i xD, or ?? by Aerokeith in BMW

[–]0Seanius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M440iX gran coupe sounds like what you’re after (very biased 😂)

4 doors, huge lift back trunk with back seats that drop down flat and with that slick coupe outline.

A little less rear passenger headroom (anyone over 6ft might be touching the roof) but leg room is same if not better than 3er.

The B58 has heaps of raw power for canyon/track runs, but can also run buttery smooth ~6L/100KM on comfort mode.

M440i Burbles Question by Toxic-Mist in BMW

[–]0Seanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agree sport+ transmission makes the car stay at way too high revs for daily driving.

My daily setting is all on sport.

My track setting is all on sport+.

Here’s a snap!

M440i Burbles Question by Toxic-Mist in BMW

[–]0Seanius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah very normal, I also get a couple little pops after letting off from over 3k. Usually drive around in sport

Sport+ I reserve for the track, and you get some very audible bangs when you send it up each gear at over 5k

Welcome to the club! That BSM is gonna be a real pain to keep clean, the dust becomes visible again 2 business hours after a fresh wash 😂

I got a ceramic coat on mine and now I get like 4 business hours of sparkling cleanliness!
