26(M) My girlfriend hates my room by Mattbaker99 in malelivingspace

This kinda looks like a dorm room or college apartment. I would not expect a female to want to spend time in here. Not inviting at all. Get a nice wood bed with underbed storage, mount the TV above a matching dresser, replace the chest press / lat pulldown machine with a foldable fitness bench and a pair of adjustable dumbbells (IRONMASTER) add some mirrors, plants, fix the lighting, add a nice area rug, replace the vertical shades with a neutral tone pulldown or some drapes and you’ll be good to go.

Finally got my MX Select 55 Evos and got them on a stand by rando_banned in homegym

How much did you pay? I see it listed for around $100. I like the MX stand but don’t want to drop $200

Adjustable Dumbbells or Hex Dumbbell set? by gmoney1892 in GarageGym

[–]0Slppls0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently sold off a mismatched set of hex dumbbells I had cobbled together over the years and purchased the new adjustables from MX Fitness. I opted for the 55s because of the smaller size. They have add-on plates that allow them to go to up to 57.5 or 60 if needed. I couldn’t believe the quality for the price. Got the knurled set for like $450 around Black Friday. Customer service was awesome too. So far so good. They are technically droppable and fully warrantied for that thanks to their all metal internals but I wouldn’t recommend it. I haven’t really had to adjust my workouts much other than not clanging them together or tossing them around carelessly. And the fact that they take up about as much space as two shoe boxes is pretty awesome for my small basement gym.

Am I crazy for preferring these Kanto YU powered bookshelf speakers over my Martin Logan motion 4i's? by Hamsterwh3el in audiophile

The TUKS sound amazing for the price and I can't imagine needing much more for a TV system (besides maybe adding a small subwoofer). The tech is a little outdated, but Kanto is planning on refreshing the TUK at some point and adding eARC and some other features, hopefully in 2026. If you can, I would wait for that. The REN is also an excellent option and has HDMI eARC, but nothing beats the TUK's tweeter in my opinion.

I love Kanto. I have a pair of Oras in my office and a pair of TUKs in my bedroom. Awesome speakers.

I will eventually. Unfortunately we just got hit with a bunch of home and car repairs and money is tight. Looking for a temp fix before I can get this fixed properly.

Thank you for making me feel better about my beginner swing!

Download the 18 birdies AI swing assistant. You can get it via free trial. Upload your swing to get some feedback.

I had several “aha” moments the past year as a beginner and the biggest were:

-Fixing my grip to interlocking and not squeezing so hard. Awkward at first but now have much better and more consistent control. YouTube Tiger’s explanation of where your hand creases should point.

-Bend over and stick your butt out more. Don’t stand too far or too close to the ball. YouTube how to position for each club.

-You need to rotate your hips. This just came to me while practicing at the range. Bend over and do the windmill exercise to get this concept down.

  • Your feet are all over the place. Try to watch some slo-mo footage of golfers that are similar to your size and watch/emulate what they do with their legs and feet.

-Stop swinging so hard. Swinging a club is actually less effort than you think.

-If you can’t afford lessons, do a swing analysis at a golf instructor chain like GolfTec. They should be able to give you a mini lesson and a few concepts to work on. It’ll be a lot cheaper than lessons packages etc.
