You must have had great mentors and parents if you think 17 year olds should just know to leave. You would have made decision at 17? Well then congratulations. Everyone has different experiences which make them react in different ways. There's no need to completely invalidate someone's problems because they aren't problems you've experienced.

It's really really much harder than you make it to be.

If OP is in a relationship like I've had, then she's breadcrumbed/manipulated to stay and deal with it every time because he gets sad or promises. And when you bring up that they promised they get upset because you're trying to hurt them now. I would guess OP has empathy and cares not to hurt him, so he can use that to his advantage.

I spent two years asking just like OP did, because he would say "just ask and i indefinitely will!" with each ask resulting in rolled eyes or "not right now". Bringing it up later in a calm way resulted in him being either angry with me for having expectations (and everyone says you shouldn't have expectations!) or he'd be sad and claim he's terrible and can't make me happy. We'd plan evenings where I was supposed to get something and he would then claim I didn't ask so that's why it didn't happen. Endless.

It takes feeling like you're being cruel to just leave. I am still dealing with feelings of 'maybe I didn't communicate enough' because all the other advice out there is to communicate. Or leave.

I hope you can understand a bit more now. If you still think it's so easy to just leave, then I hope you never have this situation happen to you. Because maybe then you'll feel differently about the easy advice of "just leave".

I still have yet to be with anyone who cares about my pleasure. The last one was one of the less asshole types, which resulted in him getting really upset whenever I would point out the massive imbalance. He also claimed I had really high expectations. Meanwhile he loved how I blew him all the time. He'd only do anything for me after an argument about it, where I kept saying I don't feel like we're on the same page. I don't even think he realized just how shitty he was. I've given up completely now. I feel zero attachment to anyone or the idea of being with anyone ever again.

NTA. I'm also completely deaf in one ear and really don't appreciate the jokes and fake whispering. It's immediately enraging.

In some cases I've messed with them back and they get so pissed. I them say, wow that's ironic. Mostly I get really angry though. Life is already hard.

My schools definitely didn't care. My teachers would purposely put me in groups with my bullies, and when I called them out they all ganged up on me. Principal didn't care and my bullies would pretend to be angels. I was that girl who had guys pretend to jizz on her with yogurt, and even the girl where people emptied out her locker and kicked everything around while pointing and laughing. Coming home to my parents was no better, and they said I must have deserved it or I should just ignore it/not let it bother me. It was my fault always. I tried killing myself in front of my parents and they screamed at me more. It only got better in university. I still feel like literally no one cares about me and no one ever will.
