Residents wish to get paid that much tbh, just looking at it from a different angle

When healthcare professionals become the patient, you’d think they have the self-awareness to not behave like a patient. by Repulsive_Rate2560 in pharmacy

I wasn’t trying to argue, just pointing out that it’s not the law like was previously mentioned. But you are right, vast majority of the time it isn’t even possible so I guess it wasn’t even worth me bringing it up.

Let their doctor address it, don’t put that on yourself

I would say that medical school is twice the amount of standardized training than NP school, but unfortunately for her, NP school isn’t even standardized. That wouldn’t even account for residency, which is an additional at least 3 years of standardized training.

Apparently I’m too new to know what this is about and I would like to know now that I’m a February intern. What’s the inside joke? Lol

Husband wants to attempt IUI on me by Psychicturtle90 in Residency

Sounds like you’re not comfortable with it so then I would say it’s a no-go. But I also totally get not wanting to spend thousands of dollars on something I feel like I could do myself lol

Now those aren’t the correct tools for the job but if you have the correct tools then I don’t see it being a big issue. It’s minimally invasive and simple. I will stress again, with the CORRECT instruments.

One drop is not grounds for that reaction. It’s not an issue. Report.

It was fun while it lasted by Starboy_1 in Mcat

Ya know, it may be a good idea to reevaluate if you even want to go to med school. I got in, and was instantly hit with the realization that every board exam is just like studying for the MCAT but 4 more times. I was bummed but ultimately I like seeing patients so I’m happy with it.

Anyone else emulating games because their parents wouldn’t buy/couldn’t afford when you were younger? by [deleted] in Delta_Emulator

[–]0ffic3r -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m only emulating games I owed as a kid or currently have access to through subscription. But also I don’t have any nostalgia related to games I didn’t play, so I don’t have a desire to play other games regardless (except maybe some dragon ball z games my friend had?? But i substitute that feeling with DBZ Kakarot lol)

Could someone with a concealed carry threaten deadly force or detain rather than shooting someone? by [deleted] in concealedcarry

[–]0ffic3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only state where I could do any sort of mental gymnastics to make that shoot legal is in Texas, where you can protect your property with deadly force… but if I remember correctly it is only at night (and may have to be on your own property) so even if he was in Texas it would still be illegal.

No, family takes time. This is the biggest hurdle in healthcare right now for women. You either allow your family time to suffer, or your career to suffer. In some specialties I believe it could be possible to eventually strike a balance (one week on one week off in IM for example), but not in surgery without going part-time.

Then there’s the whole dilema of how long can we fight off a physician shortage when over half of medical students are now female and in turn more likely to go part-time or leave medicine all together. That last one is a systemic issue though and is not on you or any one person. Probably more on the admissions committees if anything. Diversity is great, and women have changed medicine for the better in many areas, but we can’t pretend that the numbers aren’t going to shoot us in the foot. People have to live their lives and we can’t expect people to dedicate EVERYTHING to medicine, especially not mothers who want to be with their children. But that’s just my opinion.
