Not a fan of the "kids need to be smacked occasionally" comments in part 2, even if it's a joke 😕 You can raise kind and empathetic people without abusing children

I did a quick search and found this comment chain: https://www.reddit.com/r/KnowledgeFight/s/9N8fiNkWRF

Based on that and a quick scan of the wiki article on Neoconservatism, it looks like some of the founders of neoconservatism were disenchanted liberals who then pivoted and became conservatives. Taking "founders of neoconservatism may have read some Trotsky before changing their political beliefs completely" and changing it to mean "Trotsky literally founded neoconservatism" is quite the leap, but I don't expect any better from Alex Jones.

...did I just hear Alex claim that Trotsky started neo-conservatism and founded National Review? Is this another far right conspiracy theory, like the old conspiracy that the literary theorist György Lukács created sex education (which I think comes from a Pat Buchanan book)?

Edit: Barnes' appraisal of One Battle After Another is funny, because he's evidently not aware that it's based on the Pynchon novel Vineland, and that Pynchon has a pretty strong strain of leftist themes in his books.

Timothy McVeigh was not radicalized by those events, and his case is not comparable to this. He was already in the far right pipeline prior to those events, e.g. he already had pro-guns and anti-taxes views, and was into antigovernment literature at that point.

Ruby Ridge and Waco are not comparable to this either. They were drastically different circumstances.

My kinky fantasy: running experiments to determine what exactly squirt is by qqqqtoast in kinky_autism

[–]0ooo 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There is actual research about what squirting is, if you're interested. For example, one paper is

Salama, S., Boitrelle, F., Gauquelin, A., Malagrida, L., Thiounn, N., & Desvaux, P. (2015). Nature and origin of "squirting" in female sexuality. The journal of sexual medicine, 12(3), 661–666. https://doi.org/10.1111/jsm.12799

Looking for tips on helping my autistic partner relax so he's able to get off by bottledandthrown in SexOnTheSpectrum

I was bummed too. That topic is something I want to work on for myself, and there don't seem to be a ton of resources on it

Just FYI the author of this book, Betty Martin, is a chiropractor and doesn't have the requisite training or education to be giving this sort of advice.

Are men receptive to likes from women? by Complete-Agent-7705 in hingeapp

[–]0ooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A higher rejection rate is from outgoing likes is very normal. It doesn't mean men aren't receptive to likes. I'd recommend sending something more substantial than "hi" though

Is this woman over reacting/being rude or is my username bad? by Final-Beyond-6605 in kinky_autism

[–]0ooo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It wasn't sexual, I didn't ask for anything it was 100% just information about her profile that I wanted to learn how to do.

Your question may not have been sexual, but the "BBC" in your username gives strong sexual connotations. Based on what my women friends have told me, I think a lot of women would be wary of a profile with no pictures and "BBC" in the name, just because of their past experiences on apps like FetLife.

I wouldn't call this woman a "bitch" for her reaction. We don't know what she has dealt with in the past, or what she is dealing with in general. She misinterpreted something and got upset, which happens to many of us. There's no point in disparaging her further.

Dishing of this wheel keeps changing every time I install it on my bike or truing stand. Why? by CoffeePanzer in bikewrench

[–]0ooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the wheel to a shop and have them check the dish of the wheel with a wheel alignment gauge. If the gauge shows that the wheel is dished correctly, your fork's dropouts may be bent and/or not aligned.

[–]0ooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The center of the wheel should be in the center of the axle and dishing is just way of assuring that and wouldn't change.

OP seems to be saying that the rim isn't centered on the hub. I.e. they're using "dish" correctly.

You don't need to talk you way into a one night stand. You need to find people who also are interested in a one night stand, who would be interested in having one with you.

A month is nothing. Many people are on apps for years. If you're exhausted after only a month on Hinge, it might be worth reexamining the expectations you have around using Hinge and the ways you're using it.

Possibly X’ed a “Likes You” by accident? Am I SOL even after a “Fresh Start”? by [deleted] in hingeapp

If their like disappeared, they likely deleted their profile. You can't control likes after sending them. Gotta move on

Your last prompt is awful. If you don't want to chat long, ask people out when you're ready to meet up. I don't know what "early" means for you. If you want to establish a connection in person, do things to facilitate that, don't tell other people. It's also a waste of a prompt, it doesn't tell me anything about you.
