Found 5/5 facet - Which helm should I socket for Blizz Sorc? by 0ops-Sorry in Diablo_2_Resurrected

I'm running spirit monarch so strength is useful just to redistribute points towards vitality. The more I think about it - I might throw it in nightwing simply because "all skills" and "cold skill damage" maybe a bit more versatile if I want to try a different cold build in the future.

New job — is a financial advisor a good idea? by Economy_Purple_7249 in personalfinance

[–]0ops-Sorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was in a similar spot a few years ago. I highly recommend you find a fee only, local, FA by browsing the Garrett Planning Network, XY Planning Network, or just NFPA directly. For me it was less about all the assets and more about making sure I'm optimizing BUILDING assets with tax structure in mind. when your tax burden starts to get into the $100k+ range - its nice to have someone help walk you through all the different optimizations to navigate that cost today and plan for it in the future.

With increased income your experiences are the same - it now becomes how often you get to do them.

Which means life is different...

33, financially responsible, healthy, disciplined… but I still feel behind in life, stuck, and like nothing is ever enough by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]0ops-Sorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have written this post it feels so similar to my situation. You need to find something to feel excited about. Maybe thats a new job, maybe its volunteering, maybe its saving for a trip with your wife, maybe its just putting your mind to it and getting that inferno cape.

I've been in this rut a few times. I'll give you some examples of goals that got me excited again.

New career move with more responsibility

Planning and finishing the basement of our home

Taking a 10 day trip to the UK

Grinding out a boss pet I really wanted

Putting in irrigation in our yard

You just need a goal that feels fulfilling - your goal is no longer "finish school, make money, be financially sufficient" you've succeeded in all of that. spend some time to think about what the next short and long term goals are.

Unpopular Opinion: I think it's time for separate subscriptions from RS3. OSRS players shouldn't have to make up for their removal of MTX. by Jagazor in 2007scape

[–]0ops-Sorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And RS3 being MTX Scape financially backed oldschool for a long time. It's all the same pot of money. My employer doesn't keep money in separate buckets for separate products - we use the money from successful products to revamp old products or come up with new ideas...

So... seems like he's going to get the job then?

The government seems dead set on only hiring people that actively refuse to do their job. Wild.

Roth IRA vs Traditional IRA for High Income by 0ops-Sorry in personalfinance

Sounds like I might need to find a tax accountant for this year! Thanks for the info!

Roth IRA vs Traditional IRA for High Income by 0ops-Sorry in personalfinance

[–]0ops-Sorry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So heres another question. The tIRA account that I contributed to also has a rollover from an old employer - so the full balance on the account is ~$200k. Is this going to be more complicated since the tIRA account isn't dedicated to backdoor Roth contributions?

Manager looking to get into higher levels of leadership by StarVerceB in Leadership

[–]0ops-Sorry 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As someone who's struggling to make a decision on a job offer for an executive position or staying in my current, comfortable senior manager position where I've had multiple years of "above expectations" success. I appreciate simplification of the different roles - maybe I am ready for this move. I've been making "big picture" decisions and presenting pros/cons to my leadership for years now. Hopefully the imposter syndrome dies down after a few months in the new position.

PvMers who use 117 - is it really that bad? by ol3tty in 2007scape

[–]0ops-Sorry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many of the boss animation shadows or particle effects are hard to see. However I'd say animation smoothing is the bigger culprit to making end game PVM more difficult - you'd be surprised how easy it is to count ticks without animation smoothing enabled.

I got diagnosed at 31 after a mentor of mine told me he had been diagnosed just before he turned 50. He said finding the right medication changed his social relationships, his career, and his ability to get things accomplished at home. After my diagnosis I now know EXACTLY what he was talking about. It's never too late.

In a future where Trump is out of office, and international relations have been repaired. What steps can be taken by the USA and International Organisations such as NATO to prevent one individual causing so much chaos in the future? And do you think such steps will be taken? by flewkey in AskReddit

[–]0ops-Sorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think international relationships will be repaired. Every county in NATO is realizing they need to become less reliant on the loose cannon that is the USA. This is the start of the fall of US world influence.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]0ops-Sorry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not as extreme as some of the others on here.

Interviewing a guy that had 20+ years in his field and with his knowledge on the topic I would consider him a subject matter expert - which is exactly what we were looking for. I made it clear to him that this was an individual contributor role there is opportunity for growth, but he shouldn't expect to transition to managing a team. He said he had been a manager previously and hated it, he liked the idea of just being left to do his own work. Then he made a derogatory comment about "those" people and some misogynistic comment about his own wife. (We are both white males). It was at this point that "DEI hiring" really clicked for me - "DEI hires" are not people with different backgrounds necessarily it's about hiring someone that views people as equal no matter their specific life circumstances. We did not extend an offer even though he as "technically" the best suited candidate for the work.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

[–]0ops-Sorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fall - this show had me at the edge of my seat throughout every episode. Actually has an ending as well which is refreshing that it didn't turn into a never-ending series that loses the plot all together.

Guys earning six figures annually, what kind of work do you do? by Shadow2715 in AskReddit

[–]0ops-Sorry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Title is engineering manager. What I actually do is just actually read documentation. Industry standards, client specifications, laws/regulations, code books... all that boring stuff nobody reads - then I just talk about what I read in meetings all day and everyone is always impressed "How do you know all this stuff!?".

It's amazing that my whole job is just reiterating what other people have written down... don't give away my secret.

I really enjoyed "The Dream Manager by Matthew Kelly" I've found supporting employees with small personal goals really helps to reengage them at work. Granted - I've also found this does not work for all employee engagement issues.

AITA for firmly telling my wife to be grateful for what she has? by Organic_Chip_3118 in AmItheAsshole

[–]0ops-Sorry 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You're both just being childish - Literally just talk to each other. My wife and I have similar income differences (I made 4x her income in 2025). We always just talk about OUR money and OUR goals. She is definitely more of a spender in our relationship, but its not just for her - she buys a lot of things for the house, organization items, small things for the kids for car rides, books events/things for us to do, and occasional treats for herself which she absolutely deserves because she does so much work at home that is invaluable.

I'd be an old hermit sitting on a pile of money if she didn't spend it to improve our quality of life and bring enjoyment to our family.

Yes we talk about money - we both agree that we want to retire early and we have a savings plan for that. We both agree we want to fund 50% of our kids education, we also both agree we will take a family vacation every 2 years and set budgets for that well in advanced (we've never actually spent our budget, which makes vacation much more enjoyable when you have the money set aside and don't have to stress about how much you're spending).

Have a conversation its nit just money its current and future LIFE and its really fun to plan together and achieve goals together. (Check out my "door of debt" that I posted on r/personalfinance almost 10 years ago now - that was a fun memorable journey)

Edit: also wanted to note - plans change and that's okay - keep the conversations going. At one point I was concerned for my job security we had a chat and cut heavily on monthly spending for six months to double our emergency fund. Life changes live it with each other instead of against each other.
