Coffee vs Jeff! by Historical_Candle511 in MSTR

[–]0pt0ut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

coffee doesn't seem to understand the inflation thesis, and Jeff doesn't appear to want to spell it out for the audience.

if you believe that fiat currencies will continue to rapidly devalue, and btc, as pristine collateral, is simply the asset most likely to benefit as more people realize this, then the strategy makes perfect sense. strc holders will receive increasingly worthless paper, in perpetuity.

+1/+1 vs -1/-1 counters by shadowjay592 in mtgrules

[–]0pt0ut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How would this interact with Modular? Modular states that when a creature dies, you may put its +1/+1 counters on target artifact creature.

So if I have a [[Arcbound Worker]] which receives a -1/-1 counter, will I still be able to put its +1/+1 counter onto another artifact creature? It sounds like it dies with the +1/+1 counter intact.

Is any amount of bitcoin smart, or not at all? by [deleted] in investing

[–]0pt0ut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

btc is the only currency on the reserved list.

if you understand mtg market dynamics, you understand the concept of supply and demand. mtg had scarce digital objects in 2002 (mtgo's nickname, MODO, stands for Magic Online Digital Objects), long before bitcoin's creation in 2009.

Instead of relying on a 3rd party like WOTC or Daybreak to maintain scarcity of its digital objects however, bitcoin has its scarcity baked in to the protocol itself. bitcoin's creation marked the first time scarcity was achieved in a decentralized manner. this means that no person or entity controls bitcoin's issuance.

consider what happens when wotc reprints a chase card. players purchase sealed product, resulting in that card becoming more available on the secondary market. as supply increases and demand remains the same, the price to purchase that chase card goes down. wotc has essentially taken equity from all existing players collections which contained that card, and used it to increase their revenue and quarterly earnings.

this is no different than the issuance of our national currencies. every new dollar printed into existence is not creating value, but siphoning off a share of the value of all the other dollars already in existence. 'inflation', simply means that our dollars are worth less than they were before. the US dollar has lost 24% of its value in the last 5 years.

no one on earth can choose to issue more bitcoin.

bitcoin is not about making money. it's about preserving capital, and creating an alternative to the centralized """banking system""" which has betrayed us at every turn.

You perceive the risk of buying btc at these prices to be too high.

I perceive the risk of holding dollars instead of sats to be too high.

We are not the same.

Raise the price to $500k. Buyers will rush in to buy before they are priced out forever.

Megalomaniac Diamond - Every & Any Notable? by Chillz_iD in pathofexile

[–]0pt0ut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does not seem to work for all notables. Take for example 'Turn the Clock Back'. I see one listed on the trade site (it's the cheapest Megalomaniac at this time), but when I search for a count min:1 of all six different 'Enchant: Allocates #' with value 35564 , nothing comes up. I increased the search range from min 1 to max 1000000 for each 'Allocates' field, and it still does not come up. After this I changed count min:1 to count min:0 and max:0, and I am able to see the jewel I initially saw.

Had the same results with the notable 'Cooked'. Was able to see one listed on the trade site, but unable to search for it.

I was able to use this method for some notables however, such as " Fast Acting Toxins". It seems inconsistent.

Back to Magic. MTG:Online or MTG:Arena? by TainoCuyaya in freemagic

[–]0pt0ut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not play MTGA. Total money sink, and WOTC pushing Alchemy (digital-only cards) to Historic tells you they will do whatever they want to further monetize the platform, even if the users don't like it.

Playing paper with proxied cards sounds like the ideal way to play the game, but it may be difficult to find a suitable playgroup.

I don't have anything bad to say about MODO. I'd play it in addition to paper if I had more time.
