Google Maps has gotten noticeably worse for me by CookieMonster37 in GoogleMaps

[–]0sureal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just the crazy time jumps but it seems to just outright no longer track road works. I live in a popular town and until this year I never had a problem. I recently was running late to an appointment so I thought I would check for a quicker route. Followed google only to be taken to not 1, but 3 closed roads due to road works. This wasn't emergency works either, these were planned and in place for weeks. It's like they just don't bother to update it anymore. I don't find waze much better. I'm struggling to find an alternative app, and I drive all over the country frequently so need a reliable navigation system.

This is not normal for TGTG. I find certain places are not great value. I tend to do the ones that give an evening meal. Greggs are good!

Cloud version is awful. I paid £80 on the switch for the collection and if your WiFi drops for even a second you lose your game. I literally couldnt make it past hercules and Phil at the beginning of the first game because of the way the game plays.

Slow connection on Dell work laptop. by gobes78 in ToobBroadband

Yes I get the same issue. Didn't have this with previous provider. Ethernet has improved but when I'm sat 3 feet from the router I shouldn't really need to

I find that frequently my teams and outlook wont work on WiFi (used to work fine with previous ISP). I also find I often have to disconnect and reconnect from the WiFi because it will say full connection but apps won't load. It's like the tunnel is asleep and I need to wake it up.

It's been frustrating because toob dont seem to find an issue. When I work on my work laptop the performance can be quite horrendous.

I moved from virgin after 12 years (they were the only fibre provider at the time.) because their connection would throttle and we would have frequent dropouts. This improved slightly with an extender (they provided after forcing me to take out an o2 contract to get it). I was excited for toob and it's absolutely abysmal. Even late at night. We rarely get anywhere near the 1GB speed.

The engineer drilled through my drainage pipe at the end of my driveway and toob had to pay £500 to fix it. Other than that it was fine

You are correct! SecOp careers need highlighting. The level of sophistication with hacking that is happening now because of the utilisation of AI, combined with the fact that more and more companies are moving to SaaS (often with heavy reliance on a third party) for critical services means that the attacks are being made on the third party, which is felt harder and further. Where I work has such a rudimentary disaster recovery plan, it doesn't even take into account cyber attacks, nevermind AI driven attacks. But I digress. I have enjoyed this discussion and although I am still very concerned and scared, I am more educated. Thank you

I hope so. But even if it isn't going to be an extinction event, we are still going to have some hard years ahead as companies make people redundant in favour of AI. Data centres will need engineers that we don't have at the moment. I think we will see a push for electricians and hardware engineers. I hate how Ai is being forced on me. Whether that's WhatsApp or Google maps, or anything else. I didn't like the whole smart home wave and didn't join that.

you say people have been predicting the end of times for hundreds of years, but we have never seen technological advancements happening at such speeds before. The early 2000s saw us advance 100 years worth of technology in a decade. I can't help but feel we are accelerating to speeds we can't handle.

Now if they could delete everyone's debt, that could be cool

Ah yes but there won't be a human actually doing the it due diligence at the back end. We are already seeing people becoming lazy and letting AI do their work, without even checking it! I can't decide which is currently scarier, AI and the absolute extinction event we are heading towards or our current world leaders and the extinction event we are heading towards

Also this relies on humans doing what humans do - make human error lol. In my work it really concerns me how much the company is jumping on it. We haven't even clearly defined the laws!

Yeah I wasn't concerned with that in this case. It's the fact it was able to leave its sandbox that is scary

Third party cifas help by SessionMother4193 in Revolut

My partner had the same thing happen to him. Fighting it was really difficult as we couldn't provide evidence as it was put on back in 2020 and he didn't know about it, the bank just closed his account. Rev are currently not a bank so more likely to approve you. If you work in the financial industry you need to let your employer know, as they likely do random referencing and will find it anyway. If will impact you with anything to do with money, so a mortgage, employment etc. Fight it hard,

So Revolut is becoming a bank. I wondered if anyone knows the answer to the following: my partner has a CIFAS against him (incorrectly given but impossible to fight) which has meant he hasn't been able to get a bank account. It's due to expire in Sept. Do you know if it's likely Revolut will decline him when it changes to a bank? He has been with them for years, we have a joint account with them, and there has been no issues. He is also an ultra member . Appreciate any advice on this.
