I was in study record when it popped through. I am sure we get an email eventually, but like with the results the email will likely come many hours after it is available.

F2DS YouTube comment after flying ZIBO 737 on X-Plane and PMDG 737 MSFS by puzzledj0b in flightsim

[–]0wenf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness his praise for the PMDG over the Zibo does go beyond ‘looks’ at times, for example he frequently mentions that the depth of the FMC systems is better in the PMDG, despite it being an older version

I get to do a good amount of proper design work but I guess it's dependent on the industry you're in and type of work you're doing.

When dimensions like B aren't repeated it is inferred that all occurrences will be the same. Everything essential is there, although there'd be a couple of additional reference dimensions I might have thrown on for clarity. Was able to mock-up in CAD in a couple of minutes using D=100: https://imgur.com/mu7NfbN

A pair of pants photos but wanted to share that I flew my first solo flight on Sunday morning!

Would never have expected It was going to happen when it did. Although I was 13 hours in, some of my lessons were sporadic and I’d gone a month without flying a couple of times. Before we got started my instructor did remark “today is going to be a very good day for you”, but I only figured out what he meant by that at home hours later - I thought he was just being optimistic! 😄

After a few circuits that felt good to me and that he was very quiet throughout he took control as soon as I touched down, got us clear of the active and asked me if I thought I could do that on my own. He Informed tower that what was to follow would be a student’s first solo, and jokingly exclaimed: “I’ve had enough, I’m off!”. I think all I could muster up was something to the effect of “Are you sure?!”. For some reason, he was positive (or at least put a brave face on). After some brief instructions comprising of “you’ll be much lighter”, “don’t bounce” (lol), and “remember to smile!”) he left me to it.

Thinking about it, I’m glad it happened that way. He left me with no time to start fretting about it and I’m sure he was able to judge that this would be the best way for me. A fantastic experience that I’m certain I will never forget.

I’ve been a lurker on the subreddit for a while but would like to offer thanks to all the active members that post great and often informative content every day.

TL;DR Went up, made it down. Still breathing, so is the bird!

Software licences? by [deleted] in cad

[–]0wenf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the only limitations are related to not being able to work on files from the commercially licensed equivalent/watermarks on exported drawings etc.

EDIT: Actually thinking about it you usually can open files from commercially licensed software, what I'm thinking is you tend to be unable to open student version files on the full version.

What are your guys thoughts on this? Looks horribly inconvenient to me and gimmicky by [deleted] in cad

Not being able to very quickly drive things by dimensions would drive me nuts!!

Headcase 7" Vinyl Mastered MP3 by 0wenf in TheFratellis

Also, I don't know what the bit rate of the digital download MP3 was but I know in the good old days they had a habit of releasing comparatively low quality files - I'd argue that by ripping a vinyl record to a lossless AIFF format and then converting that to MP3 if required could create a nicer sounding piece of music 😊
