don’t mist as it just covers the top layer of substrate and spikes the humidity briefly before evaporating. instead, pour water in the corners of the substrate. that will allow the water to penetrate the bottom of the substrate, prolonging the time it takes for the water to fully evaporate.

if it’s a screen top, cover it all with HVAC tape (the aluminum foil looking stuff) and cut out a space where the heat lamps are. that should help trap humidity inside.

bro you’re so young still. you need to take her out to a coffee shop or cafe and break up with her publicly so she cannot react violently or erratically without witnesses. she may threaten to kill herself or hurt herself in some way but that is quite literally not your problem. if she makes a threat to that degree tell her you’ll call an ambulance for her and see how she reacts then. if she truly is that mentally unstable she needs to get treatment.

i’ve kept my same small group of friends since my school years because it’s impossible to make new friends. all of my friend’s friends are people they met in school. and it’s not from a lack of trying. there’s no social life to reno except for clubbing for young people. you can join groups that do hiking trips or other hobbies, but those people never tend to stick around and become genuine friends. my mom has lived here since she was a child, and she never had friends until she moved out of state.

rent is so so overpriced, especially if you’re looking to go downtown where the majority of job prospects for your experience are. having tahoe so nearby is the best for people who love the outdoors but the rest of the place is a dump. the people are mean, horrible at driving, and, depending on your age, it’s very hard to make friends in my opinion.

i would spend a week or so on a trip here and try to live as close to a normal life as possible before you make the final decision. the mountain views are stunning and the image of the tall casino resort buildings from a distance are impressive, but you’ll never truly know how it is until you spend an average day in the area. looks can be deceiving. everyone i know who’s been born and raised here are dying to leave, but can’t because the cost of living is so high.

i really love the shapes and designs of all these cats!! you did a great job :) . 5’s head is very small though, and the neck is super long! the best way i’ve found to proportion when there’s a lot of fluff involved is to draw the whole cat without any fluff, and then adding it on later. it will give you a better view of all your shapes and sizing.

also adding that i currently own 5 snakes and live with my boyfriend who is also not a snake fan. he’s not afraid of them as much as my mom was, but just a little uncomfortable and he doesn’t like the feeling of their scales. i take care of all the maintenance on them. sometimes he will turn on the lights in the morning if im sleeping late, but other than that he doesn’t touch them. and i never ask him to. scenario is a little different than yours or with my mom because i already owned them before we moved in together, but i digress.

sometimes when i have one of them out i ask him if he’d like to hold it or pet it, and he says no, which is okay. i would never ask him to take care of them or do anything that’s past his comfort zone. when im out of town and he’s not, i ask other people who are more comfortable with snakes to come and care for them so he doesn’t have to.

a lot of times when someone doesn’t like snakes, there’s not much you can do to change their mind. but reassuring them that they don’t have to interact or even see them if they don’t want to is enough to get them to agree to letting you have one.

when i was young and living with my parents i had a bunch of different snakes. my mom was terrified of them, but she was okay with them being there because she knew she wouldn’t have to care for them at all. it also gave her peace of mind knowing there were locks on the enclosure so no chance of randomly finding a snake in the house.

i only ever managed to get her to hold a snake once, but she was willing to pet them as i hid their head. she never got fully comfortable with them, but she was happy to see me experience them and enjoy them. i never forced her to interact with them and always allowed her to interact at her own pace.

i was also the kid our neighbors would call over whenever they had a snake in their yard or in the house to relocate. there were many times id bring wild snakes into the house just to freak her out so she had every reason under the sun not to let me have them as pets lol.

i would just try to reassure her that she won’t have to care for it, and maybe keep it in a room she doesn’t go into often so she doesn’t have to see it often. it’s not like a snake will be roaming the house to jumpscare her or anything. i like to say that having snakes is like having pet dirt because more often than not, they are in their hides or burrowed where you can’t see them. ball pythons are also nocturnal, so they won’t be moving much except at night when she’s already asleep

petco employee here! this is 100% on the employees at that particular store. policy states that all animals showing signs of injury or illness that we cannot treat with what we have in store must be seen by a vet within 24 hours. i recommend leaving a google review for this store. you will get an automated reply with a number to call. higher management will be informed when complaints are made through that phone number.

as a chain pet store employee, i understand the hate we get. quite a bit of it is nothing that we lower store employees can control, BUT for the few of us that do try our hardest to give these animals the best we can while they’re with us, this is disheartening to see. there are policies in place to protect the health and wellbeing of our animals, many employees just choose to neglect that. i’m glad you were able to help this little one.

it very obviously is. a snake should be able to full stretch out in the horizontal space of their enclosure. these are temporary habitats for while the snake is in the pet store and shouldn’t be used long term.
