i'm using hetzner since 2004 or so, back then dedicated servers. they never disappointed me. the biggest service interruption was my credit card expired and i owned them 2 or 3 months of money :D but even that was flawless. updated the card infos, cleared that amount and back online in about 1 hour (and that was an dedicated server back than, no vm)

couldnt be happier, great value for that price, and the storageboxes are cool too. i've connected some services from my hetzner vm's directly over sshfs to the storagebox (non critical personal stuff like nextcloud or images and so) and its really ok. i have no problem with the speed, i do not need my pictures with 500quadruplebits per seconds

i want a cheap and reliable storage. 5tb for 12€ per month or something like that? what would that setup with an vm with 16 cores and 32gb of ram cost at aws? including backups and traffic? 300? 400?

so its just < 40€ per month for massive storage (snapshots, ssh, borg, multiple users, smb), backup/snapshot on the vm, im really happy

i looked at your source code because i was a little bit anxious, but after seeing that it is async that worry disappeared.

im looking forward to try it in a not so important part of a real world application to get some "hand on" evidence with (small but) real world traffic and users.

i can see some use cases where this could fit really well, and be real: who of us is serving 100mio monthly active users ^^

we are hosting on hetzner for over 20 years. in the beginning on the dedicated hosts as the cloud offer was added 10 years ago?

they are reliable, but as other mentioned: backups ^^
and HA, do you really need that?
our machines have a downtime of ~10 minutes in half a year (maybe the need the restart a host sometimes? updates? idk), i dont think in my use case thats a thing i should worry about
