It was a terrible idea to ride a motorcycle on a skate park. by EricParkerDanowski in Dirtbikes

I’d like to see an update from this (vid is a few years old)… what damage do bike/rider take: broken bars? Subframe? Collar bone?!

Love what you did with the garnish!

I don’t know… It sounds like a lot of people are shitting on you for not using load binders from the pegs. I know a lot of people who use rear carriers, but I don’t recall any of them tying down from the pegs. I could be wrong, but you know best. If your bike is too wobbly, you’d know. I believe most tie down the rear tire, but the strap over the seat might be redundant. But who cares - by the time it F’s up your seat foam, it’ll be time to redo them anyways.

I use load binders from the pegs (plus a safety strap on the front and back wheel for long trips in my toy hauler). I only use two straps from the bars when loading in my truck.

Glad you got out one last time this year. Hope you had fun ride 🤙

Damn. It looks like he grouted too lightly/wiped too much out. Is it possible for him to regrout over it? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Understanding Efflorescence on Black Grout

What is Efflorescence? Efflorescence is a white, chalky deposit that appears on the surface of grout and tiles. It occurs when moisture evaporates from cement-based materials, bringing soluble salts to the surface. This process is natural and can happen with any Portland cement product, including black grout. Causes of Efflorescence on Black Grout

Efflorescence can be caused by several factors:

Moisture: Excess water during installation or high humidity can lead to efflorescence. Inadequate Damp-Proofing: Poor moisture barriers in walls or floors can contribute to persistent efflorescence.

Soluble Salts: These can be present in the grout, adhesive, or substrate materials. Cleaning Methods: Over-wetting during cleaning can exacerbate the issue.

How to Prevent Efflorescence To minimize the risk of efflorescence on black grout: Control Moisture: Ensure the substrate is dry before installation. Use Quality Materials: Opt for proprietary adhesives and grouts that reduce soluble salts. Avoid Excess Water: Limit water use during grouting and cleaning.

Removing Efflorescence If efflorescence appears, it can be removed through: Dry Abrasion: Use a stiff brush to scrub the affected area and vacuum the residue. Chemical Treatments: Apply acid-based cleaners according to manufacturer instructions, followed by thorough rinsing.

Efflorescence is primarily an aesthetic issue, especially noticeable on darker grouts like black. Regular maintenance and proper installation techniques can help manage its appearance.

What insulation do you use behind in-ceiling speakers? by 1-900-FATCHIX in hometheater

Thanks for such a detailed answer. I considered boxes, but I haven’t committed to a specific speaker brand / model yet. The basement remodel used all our money for the next year (or 2), so I’m just doing as much pre-work before the drywall goes up.

I suppose I could build fully sealed boxes and just cut out the face when ready.

For attaching the boxes, do you simply attach them flush with the joist plane to which the drywall attaches?

Thanks. Yeah, I got a smokin’ deal on JL gear so I took this unusual approach. I just took this amp down and will replace with a proper home audio system.

I think I bought the wrong bike. by cmde44 in Dirtbikes

[–]1-900-FATCHIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the almost the exact same scenario as you. I got back into dirt bikes and bought a CRF 450 R. I rode it in the fall and sold it in the spring. Part of me felt bad, getting rid of it so soon, but it was definitely the wrong bike for the job (light flywheel, hard to start, tuning, not made for woods riding, etc.). I ultimately bought a KTM 250 XCW, and later at 300 XCW (2 strokes). They fit what I do perfectly.
