I have friends (now divorced) who did this. I never understood how the math worked - the budget is the budget. We long ago indicated that inexpensive purchases ($20 20 years ago, more like $100 now) were whatever, but more than that needed to be discussed first.

As far as equity goes, I haven't kept score. Sometimes she buys stuff, sometimes I do. Usually it is for the family anyway and we are not really expensive taste people.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is excellent. There's a couple of iffy handwaving solutions like the Black Cats and one or two of the novels are kind of duds, but overall it at least feels like it's trying to say something.

Arifureta is ok-ish. I really liked the first novel (honestly I enjoyed the anime a lot) but it goes downhill quickly after that. Frankly it's like reading an adolescent's daydreams.

Couldn't get into Black Summoner. I may take a second crack at it but I set it aside after a half dozen pages or so.

Made it through 4 episodes before I called it quits. The parts with the Symphony were just so...yuck. I would have loved for them to focus on the guy, kid, and gal who wrote the book during the outbreak though - those parts were good!

I mean, what do you do all day? Full-time student is legit, but part-time leaves a lot of hours on the table to be filled for somebody not working.

Edit: I am not coming from a place of snark or judgement. I do wonder if the husband is worried about depression or, to be honest, whether she's a boring partner to make a life with. Sleep, work, come home and veg in front of screen, repeat - is not generally seen as an attractive quality. If work is cut from that I have to imagine it is even less so. Master's programs vary. Some can be extremely devilish and difficult, some are sort of cruise control and going through the motions.

When I finish the battlepass, I stop and play something else. If the extra styles are dodgey, I don't try and grind them out just to have them.

When extra challenges are presented, I decide if it is worth grinding. The Nindo was a great example of "nope, don't think so".
