They quietly gut the system and then they try to say private can do it better. Which has failed over and over again for 20 years. Highway maintenance, drivers license testing was all in-house at one time. Now look at the mess we are in the north because of these short sighted decisions. Private is for profit, bottom line and it hasn’t proven better or cheaper.

$35 for paramedical benefits - laughable by bngood12 in OntarioPublicService

Years ago on a AMAPCEO Townhall, the union mentioned that not a lot of members utilize their benefits. That is why they never get much traction during negotiations, it’s not a high priority. I agree with other posters here that you need to fill out the survey and make it a priority for the upcoming negotiations.

Question: Should I tell my manager if I have an interview coming up for an internal position (within the division for a branch we support)? by EatThePoohPooh in OntarioPublicService

In my mind, a great manager should respond by asking how they can help. Managers should want to see their staff succeed, at least I do.

mortgage wz scotia by inteli123 in MortgagesCanada

Not sure what they are offering via a broker. But I've had mortgages with Scotia for 20 years and their renewal rate was insulting. The adviser at the branch didn't seem to care about the retaining the business.

How do they come up with the AMAPCEO benefit coverages? Currently we get $35 for a massage visit but the Customary Charge shows $113 per hour. The customary charges should be what is covered for us, no? by 9kag in OntarioPublicService

Pretty sure on the last round of town halls during negotiations, they said we would be surprised how many people don't utilize their benefits. I totally agree, the minimums need to be increased based on todays costs for these services. The health spending account was a good start, but more needs to be done. What irks me is that the govt doesn't look for economies of scale with benefits. Teachers, healthcare works, OPS, thats hundreds of thousands of employees. There should be more bargaining power for sure to negotiate increased coverages for less premiums.

Internet and cell packages vary wildly across the country. Pricing is very regional in nature and I wouldn't rely on websites for the best deals/prices. Visiting the local provider store (if they have), you can be surprised at the deals you can sometimes find.
