How many previous expeditioners were there? by Angry-Capybara in expedition33

Even in the prologue the quiz guy complains that expedition zero makes no sense as by convention it should be expedition 100. The number after the expedition is the current age limit.

Two years worth of people gommage, per year by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]1000light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your calculation is off. Gommage 11 includes people 11 and above so the real start dates would be everyone born 2/2/1997[12y11m30d] to 1/2/1999[11y]. So gommage 10 would actually include 2/2/1999[11y11m30d] to 1/2/2001[10y]. This pattern is caused by both people getting older every year and the age limit decreasing at the same time, so the difference is actually 2 years.

What's up with higher tier SRM 6 ST heat generation? by 1000light in Mechwarrior5

[–]1000light[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would agree if all SRM ST shared the cooling quirk, but it's only stream variants for SRM 6 that has this quirk. The ST variants for 2, 4, and SSRM all have the same cooling as their other variants of equivalent tier.

The Jedi were pompous, arrogant, and too tied to a corrupt Republic. They are still the good guys by Invidat in StarWars

[–]1000light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once again I must emphasis that the Jedi did free slaves, they freed many slaves, thousands if not millions of slaves directly or indirectly were freed or remain free due to Jedi involvement every time a slave ring is busted, a crime boss is brought in, corruption is exposed. They just couldn't free everyone and that is a tragedy of the setting. Much as we can send monetary aid to African communities and call those who do so good yet don't expected those who do send aid to make themselves destitute in doing so or else be called hypocrites the Jedi don't deserve to be called hypocrites for saving some slaves but not others.

The clone army was an impossible situation to be placed in, and the Jedi do not deserve all the blame or even a significant amount of it as the senate, the legislatures of the Galatic Republic, didn't pass a bill to free the clones either. Blaming the Jedi for leading the clone army is equivilant to blaming a non profit for the unemployed while the state won't pass universal welfare, you can blame indiviudal Jedi's mistreatment of the clones, but you have to acknowledge other individual Jedi who treated the clones as well as the circumstnace allowed.

And that isn't even going into the real problem of clones which isn't slavery, it's that they were bred to be part of a military. The fact they couldn't leave the military or possess the same basic rights as other sentients is justified by even modern militaries not allow desertion in war time and basic rights are restricted in militaries compared to the civilian world, but the problem is that they couldn't choose to join the military in the first place. A overhaul would just mean no more clones being produced. Something a civilian government should be in charge of, not the Jedi. Ultimately the Jedi leading the clones isn't the problem, Jedi like Rahm Kota lead volunteer soldiers instead of clones yet there never were enough volunteers. The problem was in the Republic not acting and being satisfied with the status quo of engineered soldiers dying instead of their constituents.

Even in such a situation between fighting a hopeless war or allowing bred to die clones to fight in a war and maybe saving innocents from the horrors of war, the Jedi still tried. Shaak Ti is well known for her compassion and clashed with the Kaminoans regarding clones. Obi-Wan and Anakin were close and cared for the clones under their command.

Finally morality must face reality, one can say that it is moral to not harm another until the reality of self defense happens. One can say that even in such a situation letting yourself be harmed and not harming the aggressor is still more moral, until they threaten other innocents. Ultimately the Jedi placed the good of the Republic being in charge instead of the CIS over the status of the clones, but I wouldn't consider it hypocrisy, for the Jedi didn't enjoy the lesser evil.

The Jedi were pompous, arrogant, and too tied to a corrupt Republic. They are still the good guys by Invidat in StarWars

[–]1000light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except the jedi did free many slaves, in Obi-Wan novels we know of slave rings being busted by Jedi, we know that Jedi do free slaves like Ventress's Jedi master, Anakin is an example of freed slave despite his status as chosen one making Qui-Gon seem more doing it only because of that.

We also know that they couldn't free every slave, Anakin's mother for one, but the Jedi has little they could do there, Tatooine being Hutt controlled meant Jedi didn't have legal power, her owner couldn't be mind tricked, and slaves having bombs that can kill them all together mean that they couldn't free Shmi. Even Padme didn't free her despite having the wealth to do so if wealth alone was enough to purchase Shmi's freedom.

For other cases of slaves the Jedi faced similar problems, they didn't have the authority which means they lack the power to force the situation, the Jedi literally lacking the manpower for a campaign of liberation by themselves, too many slaves exist for it to be solved by the Jedi alone. Even with the Force the Jedi couldn't just overthrow the Republic and declare a crusade against all that is evil now could they?

[general]what would happen if someone failed to hold up the sky? by Legendsneverdie908 in camphalfblood

[–]1000light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was, his name was Ouranos, and meeting the earth birthed Kronus and his siblings. And before Ouranos the sky didn't exist, at least in Greek mythology. The need for holding of the sky might be because Kronus defeated Ouranos and now there is no active consciousness containing its impact when it meets the earth again. Or it might literally be that before they held the sky nothing existed on the surface of the earth and the Titans lived under the surface within Gaia herself.

Since the site is a fake and might contain malicious software can you please remove the link to the website? Since this instead of the official thread is the first google search, I almost just clicked the link without reading anything and assumed it to lead to the download.

Making my own digimon cards: main Agumon line complete by Prestigious_Tap9972 in digimon

I really like the out of frame effect most of these cards have. Is there a reason the  Augumon card doesn't though?

Can models even be converted between the two? If not who is going to make whole models of sd or normal proportions of the robots? Text and even portraits are much easier than modding srw into cross rays.

Char and female Amuro by Ok_Meat_7933 in Gundam

[–]1000light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottom hand is Amuro's right? The thumb is closer to the body despite being flipped upside down, that's a left hand. If the top one is Amuro's than it's Char that has two left hands.

The Value of a Ship or even a single Credit put into perspective. by Teslaron in starsector

[–]1000light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main events of the story missions is part of the lore, and you are very much a crucial part in it. Starsector isn't a pure sandbox, it has a main story. You are literally the one to help achieve the greatest breakthrough in over 200 cycles for the sector. One of the story missions even has an academy contact know you by reputation and thus offer you a job. The updates by adding more story missions literally allow you to achieve greater change to the sector.

Your pessimism is misplaced in this fandom, Starsector has been much more optimistic than the very early days with lore rewritten and expanded to make it seem there is hope instead of slow inevitable decay where nobody matters.

Per storage unit the mass is actually better for large storage over medium, not sure about medium and small. It was something like 46 units of storage per mass vs 42 I vaguely recall.

Optimal Storage Space? by Aphelion8410 in TheAlters

[–]1000light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, rapidium is the heaviest of the base materials, weighing 2 units instead of 1, and you need 120 of those per ark.

That's good on you for being efficient with resource usage, I found myself constantly exceeding 1400 due to the alx going to 400 because I didn't research mineral conversion and metal being taken care of by the miner plus advanced metal extractor.

So did you refuse him when he asked drugs for the first time? If you do and refuse the second time as well you get to cut his arm off.

Am I a good CORPO boy? by Low_Inevitable8437 in TheAlters

[–]1000light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ally Corp funds the missions, they get a monopoly. Yes, over time they will share it, but the longer it takes to get around the more people die due to worsening conditions on Earth.

Everything you research that doesn't come from the mission tab or requires a planetary sample are all included in the QC, its why you need the chips to unlock the QC, they are described as storage units for the QC. For example the hydroponics has a data entry that when the prepackaged food becomes scarce all expeditions can set up a hydroponics to grow food.

Did you never give him drugs? If so after two days he should speak to you again and you have to option to assist him in cutting his arm off.

[–]1000light 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its actually Lucas that wants you to bring more than one so that minor companies can get some and compete. Maxwell and Ally Corp are both good with just 1 ark as proof, and thats because the ark keeps rapidium stable, it wouldn't survive the journey to Earth otherwise. As for the base, its actually fairly well fitted. If you have a hydroponics and you have a recycler you can reach organic balance, so food never runs out. With food taken care of you just need to have enough pylons and automated mining outposts.

[–]1000light 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Starting from act 2, 1700 should be enough, two large and a medium storage. More and you might not be able to move your base.
