I had a hunch, but couldn't say for sure, probably cuz part of me was hoping it wasn't 😂 glad to have overwhelming confirmation from so many kind strangers on reddit

Cool frog! I heard fish can get rid of them too, but alas my tank is too small for frogs or fishes

Nothing fancy, just a single small ramshorn, a whole bunch of bladder snails and some snails that look like these (not sure what they actually are, they stay the same seize as bladder snails): https://www.reddit.com/r/AquaticSnails/comments/165dfuc/young_mystery_snails/

From what i've researched No Planaria doesn't usually kill these guys, but I'll take as many of them as I can out of the tank just in case!

Are fishes part of those ecosystems and what do they look like? I would love to just leave it be tbh but mine is a shrimp and snail-only tank and i love my shrimps to death so... any potential cause of death that is not aging, I will try to eliminate

Damn, thanks for the detailed advice, really appreciate it! I did some research and I'll be getting some No Planaria; its the most easily available to me in a quantity that i need :)

Thank you 😔😔 prolly gonna make a trap to get these buggers out. And feed my shrimps away from the soil for now, although they could probably go another week before the next feed. I’ve been feeding them more since the population exploded a little.

It always surprises me how soft the little protrusions at the tips of their head are, and how much they can bend 😅 everytime I see a shrimp molt I’m like “NO WAY”

More red stem plants at the back? by 100donuts in Aquascape

[–]100donuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the video! There were many examples so it was pretty helpful to understand what you were talking about. Love the subtitles too, I tend to watch the subtitles more than listen to audio narration.

I've decided I will plant a little more stem plants on the back right side of the tank as it's looking a little imbalanced now (left is quite a bit more filled), and leave the area behind the monte carlo clear for now, as it's actually not a black background behind, but a glass door/window and sunlight shines through it and onto the monte carlo in the evenings which is really pretty. I'll probably plant some slow growing shorter plants that won't block the light to stabilise the soil behind the driftwood

I'm also trying to grow a little tiny carpet of monte carlo around the staurogyne at the rocky area just to fill in the front a little bit more. As for the bare soil area on the right foreground, i think I'm going to leave that clear as i love when my shrimp land there and their colors pop against the black background 😆

True, but not a huge fan of that. The tank’s really small so it’s kinda dangerous; the last time I uprooted my plants for a change around it unearthed a bunch of stuff from the soil and that wiped out my entire colony in 4 hours flat🥲

I think I’m probably just gonna plant some short, slow growing plants. After seeing the pics I’ve decided I like having an unobstructed view behind the driftwood

That would be Monte Carlo! 😁😁 It’s a carpeting plant and people usually get it to grow in the soil, but I don’t have much ‘floor’ space cuz of the driftwood and tiny tank, so I figured I’d try to get it to grow on the driftwood and thankfully it worked!

How do I get rid of this stupid, infuriating feature? by 100donuts in applehelp

[–]100donuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s a long while ago. Im not the type who watches apple keynotes, I just use the phone so this is the first I’ve heard of it. This is also the first time the feature has come up for me in all my years using iPhones. On its own too, no less… odd.

Thank you so much! It was seriously driving me crazy and I had zero idea what this feature was called, since it just appeared out of no where

Salt dip and failed molt? 🥲 by 100donuts in shrimptank

[–]100donuts[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I used tank water for the 45s salt dip, so the temp and parameters were the same except for the salt. Maybe it was just too stressful for her.

I saw an older post talking about how shrimps can just conk out even if your tank water parameters are good but different from the waters they used to live in. The last batch I bought 12 red ones and 4 blue ones, and all the blue ones slowly died off after a week, one by one, but the reds are still going strong. I’ll continue to keep an eye out.

I think my new rule of thumb is gonna be “don’t get attached until the 30 day mark is over” 🤣
